I've been browsing Ebay for some older versions of Photoshop (CS3 and CS4) but I need to know EXACTLY what I need to be looking for before I decide on one and bid.

I feel like some of the Photoshops listed on Ebay aren't the full deal. Can anyone maybe go on Ebay and just find a random, but correct listing for a Photoshop CS3 or CS4? Heck, CS5 if you can find it! I have been saving up for one and I've seen a few on Ebay for $200 or $300 bucks which is absolutely affordable for me at the moment. Needs to be the real deal Photoshop for photo editing etc.

Can anyone take a few minutes and help me out? Pretttyyyy please? This is for a PC. All the "extended version, full version etc" are confusing me!

I'm just trying my hardest to not get ripped off. Also....what exacttly is the difference with say, Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop 7?

I wouldn't buy from ebay either. You can get a very, very good discount if you are a student. Go to the Adobe site for detailed information or check with the school you are attending at the school software site, or do a search for the product you want and make sure to put student in the search words, or, onthehub, com may be helpful.

I'm just starting to use photoshop so any advice, hints, and tricks are appreciated. Any beginner detailed tutorials suggestions are appreciated also, thank you.

If ALL you want to do is photo editing...you don't need photoshop. Using PS for "simple" editing is like using a tiger to catch mice.

what is it exactly you're wanting to do? I LOVE Photoshop. It can do some seriosly amazing things and photo editing is the least of them.

If all you want is photo editing, check out picnic.com .
  6. If I recall correctly (since I haven't used it in about 6 years or so), GIMP is pretty similar to Photoshop and can be downloaded for free.
    GIMP - Windows installers
It's at least worth a try, before you go shelling out money.
OR, you could probably purchase a legit copy of Photoshop Elements brand new, in store for around $100 or so. It's an extremely simplified form of Photoshop. You're still able to load new brushes and fonts into it, and I honestly couldn't tell much difference between Elements and CS1, back when I was alternating between both.

That should say Picnik.com , my phone auto-corrected.
  8. Since I can't edit anymore...lol: And to answer your earlier question, the "Extended" includes more avenues to 3D creation and extremely advanced photo manipulation, analysis and creation. It can almost be thought of as the difference between Windows Home and Student and Windows Professional. One just includes more stuff to cater to teachers, professionals, etc.
Anytime someone says 'Full Version', it just means that it is the program itself, as opposed to a limited trial or demo version. I would be leery of these, especially on Ebay. Though as others have advised: don't buy the program off Ebay. In addition to opening yourself up to some real shadiness from people selling less than legit copies, I believe the resale of computer programs this way is not only probably in some part illegal, but also voids any warranties/registrations if you were to get it.

This is an old thread, btw. But FWIW, I have CS5 and Lightroom and I didn't pay for either.. ;)

For anyone looking , I would still go through the Adobe site, If you are a student, elementary, seconday, or an educator, there are 80% savings on the products with proof you are going to school.

If all you need is a program to edit pictures, GIMP has basically te same format and pretty much everything Photoshop has but the download is free.
I have PS CS3 and GIMP and I can do just about everything on GIMP that I can do on PS, but since my fiancé is a computer nerd lol, he knew how to download PS and get the key gen for free

I wouldn't even bother with photoshop unless your going to be using it in your career, it is so freaking expensive and when you consider that GIMP does everything that photoshop does but it is free.. buying a $600 program isn't worth it. I've gone to school for graphic design and even I use GIMP for all my stuff because it's just not worth it to pay for the 'name' of the other program.

I don't like the idea of using pirated software on projects. :P Besides, why go through the trouble of finding a hacked version of something when you can use a free program that does it all anyway? :D

    kady05 Krypto Super Dog

Well, I didn't go through the trouble, BF did.. it took him like 5min.
