I am expecting a litter of pups from my American Bulldog and my American Bulldog/Pitbull 50/50 mix, so the pups will be 75% American Bulldog and 25% Pitbull. I was wondering if anyone had any experiences or anything they want to share about what they know about this mix.

I'll post some pics later when I get home.

Pictures of yours would be awesome too.

Oh good, you bred a guardian breed that commonly has unstable temperament issues with a tenacious terrier breed. Congrats, you're a fucking idiot. Want a cookie?

Why did you breed your dogs together if you know absolutely nothing about the mutts you just created?

Oh damn and here we were all hoping you'd grace us with your presence daily to shower us with your irresponsibly bred shit-bulls... What a fucking honor. :no2: Don't let the door hit you

So here's my story (not that I should have to explain myself).

I have two dogs. You know the breeds. They are both mine and I raised them since they were pups. They are both excellent physical specimens, in pretty much perfect health. They both have great temperaments. I know both of their lineages and they are A+. My American Bulldog is registered with the NKC. My pitty isn't. I had them DNA tested. I had them tested for genetic disorders, hip dysplasia, eye problems and so on. Everything is in good working order.

The reason I am breeding them is because multiple members of my family have expressed interest in owning a puppy...if I was to ever let them mate. You see, I am a very responsible owner and have made it a point to NOT let my dogs mate...until now. I planned this out to the last T. Nothing was done irresponsibly. I will keep all the pups in my family where they will be more than taken care of. My vet's on board. There isn't much to worry about.

I just was hoping to get some pictures that I could share with my family to get them pumped for their new puppies.

Wanted to add that all the puppies will receive intensive obedience/agility/general clicker training that will last their entire lives. My nephew does this for a living and has trained my dogs their whole lives, also.

What was the purpose of breeding mutts? Plenty of those available in shelters without adding to the problem.

OP, I'm surprised to hear that you've health tested. IF that is true, then you're doing better than most people, but it doesn't change the fact that you're breeding mutts when there are millions like them needing homes. I, for one, think you should stick around and educate yourself. Sometimes a wake-up call is what you need.

Do you read? I'm not "adding to the problem." Sure they're "mutts" but don't they need love too. I made a responsible decision to breed my two dogs. What's wrong with that? I know they will NEVER end up in a shelter since they will be owned by pretty much all my immediate family. They are all responsible adults, perfectly capable of being dog owners. Hell, if it came down to it, I'd take the dog(s) into my home before I let them go to a shelter. I'm not doing this for any financial gain and all the risks involved are the same as when you adopt a shelter animal. So, what's your problem?

I came here to make friends with like minded individuals. Instead, I'm being insulted and preached to about breeding "mutts" and how I'm a bad guy for not forcing my family to adopt a shelter dog. (I'll defend myself later for this I'm sure.)

I don't really NEED pictures, I have a really good idea what the pups will look like so this was just a waste of my time.

No you didn't. You bred two dogs of breeds that should NEVER be crossed together, and if you can't figure out WHY, then please for the love of humanity tell me you haven't managed to produce any human babies.

MOST of the general population should never own either of those breeds and yet your entire immediate family just happens to have the lifestyle and personality traits required to responsibly own and manage them, much less a cross of the two? I find that very hard to believe.

Except that when you adopt a fucking shelter animal, you're hopefully making an informed decision to intentionally take an animal THAT ALREADY EXISTS into your home with the knowledge that there is NO way to accurately predict the health or temperament of the animal like you ARE ABLE TO, to a reasonable extent, when you get a RESPONSIBLY BRED animal. Intentionally producing dogs that are on-par with the local shelter special is NOT something to be proud of.

What, you actually thought you would be praised for breeding shit for the sake of breeding shit? This forum generally supports responsibly bred purebred dogs and PURPOSE-BRED (as in working dogs, not mutts with unknown history being thrown together just because some asshat thinks they'd be "cool") crosses.

These are all your opinions, and while I do respect them. I don't agree with them.

My veterinarian said it is actually a good thing for the two breeds to be cross-bred as long as you know both dog's temperament and history. Cross-breeding actually has health benefits, as it expands the gene pools and cuts down on the number of genetic health issues. Oh, and these dogs typically live longer too. I'll believe him over a mod here anyday.

The responsibility lies with the dog owners. These breeds of dogs become great family pets when treated and trained to be. Because they tend to be the breeds owned by the most irresponsible owners they have a reputation. Good or bad. Deserved or not. These aren't my calls to make. I just know MY dogs and MY family. You don't. And while you moderate this forum and see a lot of dip$#!+s who breed "'cause man, they'll make some bad ass bluenoses'" you can't just automatically lump me in with those gumps.

I did nothing to deserve the disrespect I am receiving here.

I didn't expect praise. I responsibly bred dogs for MY-PURPOSE. Not to be show-trophies to help expand my ego. Or my slaves. I bred them to be man's best friend. The absolute BEST PURPOSE of a dog.

I think your just a fearmonger who wants everyone to be deathly afraid of all dogs you don't approve of. This just isn't, and never will be, the case. To tell you the truth...Outside of your little forum here no one truly gives a shit what you have to say. Or at least I don't.
