Hey all. I often bid on Ben Seigel's reptile auctions on Facebook. There was a bid yesterday for a blood python which I lost but I soon got a message from some chick on FB wanting to sell me her 200+ gram female blood python for $100, including shipping. On one hand, that's good. On the other, it seems like it's too good, if that makes any sense. What do you guys think. Should I go for it?

Usually if something seems too good to be true, it is. But you just never know. I'd get more information on why this person is selling her and use a payment method that can be stopped if you don't get what you paid for.

It's probably legit just a poor quality blood. I've seen babies going for $75-$100 before, not the type I would buy but still a blood. Which type? Did she send pics?

I did ask some questions. Apparently she was intending to get into bloods to breed but decided against it and just wants to sell this little female off.

  5. Can't see the pic. Bloods and Short Tails are what we specialize in though.

If it's a run of the mill red blood, $100 shipped is about right nowadays....

  6. All boils down to quality. If you want one that going to be RED when it matures, it'll cost ya more. I'd want to see pics of it's parents, as that's a great indicator. I'd need to see a pic to give you my opinion on if I think it'll turn red or if it'll be browned out or orangy looking.

Ehh I wouldnt do it. I got a Rough Scale from Ben and was really happy with it, Id just wait for the time to be right when you can get one from a legit person and not some random off FB.

Some lady wanted to screw me on two BPs off FB when I was selling one of my geckos, a "trade" for poor quality animals, I just wouldnt do it. At least with a reputable person you are more likely to get what you are paying for due to them wanting to keep their reputation good in the herp community.

Hey guys. I turned her down. No one seemed to know of this chick no matter how many peo0ple I asked, so I said nah. Though for the record, I actually like the kinda orangey looking ones. I just don't like them as much as the reds or the blacks

  9. It's all in what YOU find appealing....afterall, you'll be the one feeding/cleaning/admiring the animal every day :)

    This.

I had someone at an expo ask my friend why she was focusing on the project she was with BPs, he said "they dont make that much money" she looked right at the guy and said "well I am not in it to make money, I like the way those snakes look so thats what I am going to focus on"

Get what you like, youll be so much happier in the end

Word. I'm focusing on the looks of some things I really like vs how much they sell. I'm just unlucky enough to like so much stuff with a high price tag
