Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog

Would like any info about this breed from someone that had (or currently) owns one. In particular the CRK line of Alapahas. I know the breed is very similar to American Bulldogs, but supposedly has a lot more drive. Any opinions (good, bad or ugly) is wanted. Appreciate any input, thanks.
One more thing, I know there is a crap-load of controversy surrounding the origin of this breed (just like American Bulldogs). I'm not interested in all that drama, just the breed characteristics, flaws, etc.

My uncle owns one and I got a buddy with a few. TBH I've yet to find one that was more drivey than an American Bulldog, but that's just me.

If you're getting one, make sure they've tested the hips and elbows on em because aside from a kennel that puts them on hogs or does real work/sport regularly or or something I wouldn't touch em with a ten foot pole for the price they sell them at on average

Oh yeah, I definitely wouldn't even consider a kennel that doesn't health test. Regarding the drive, I've only seen a few videos and pics of Alapahas and from what I can gather, there is a lot of variation in the breed. I'm drawn toward the ones that have a "pit bull" like body but with a "bulldog" type head. Yeah, some of them look like they're about to keel over from the poor breathing, but others look rough and tumble. Thanks for the reply.

Hi folks, new ABBB owner here. Saw this thread and rather than create a new one, thought I'd bump it up. So I have a new puppy, as I mentioned, and the more I research about this breed the more confused I become. There is a LOT of trash talking between the various registries and some seriously shady practices by some that claim to be the "only" true breeders, etc. Anyway I've fallen down the rabbit hole and it's SO HARD to discover the real story. The breeder I bought from is not mentioned anywhere in any of the negative things I've read online, which is a good sign, but he also is one of apparently multiple people that "left" the so-called original registry (ABBA) due to major disagreements about the way it's run, the shady breeding practices, and the supposed (and verifiable by the allmighty google) defamation of a lot of breeders that could be legit.

Everything I seem to find online seems to support what my breeder has told me about the history, and I have been tracking some of the FB feeds of these groups and it seems to me that anyone that has to trash talk and claim they are the ONLY legitimate breeder/registry/whatever on every single post is immediately suspect, in my mind... (the "trying too hard" syndrome perhaps?) I don't know, it's so hard to tell. I really don't like a lot of things I read but I'm also aware of the dangers of believing everything I read online.

Fact is, my pup is amazing! She's super smart, has a great personality, is very healthy, and ultimately that's what matters to me. But I am just unsure about what to believe about all of the mud slinging. It saddens me that what appears to be such a fantastic breed is being overshadowed by tit-for-tat BS.

Anyone that can shed some truly objective light on this would be greatly appreciated! I'm not sure if objectivity even exists here...

Depends on which version of history your breeder gave you, I suppose. If it's the version where they try to take credit for a hand in the creation of the APBT, then it's not true in the slightest

No... not at all. In fact in all of the reading I've done (and it's a LOT) I haven't run across that particular claim. If anything, the APBT has played a small part in the creation of THIS breed.

I guess I'm more interested in finding out more about the practices of ABBA and its members vs. those of other registries (IABBR, ARF, etc).

I say Ah-LAP-ah-ha. I really wish they would just call it the Alapaha Bulldog and leave out the "blue blood" because dang that's a mouthful!

OK well... I sort of figured this forum might be a long shot to find any good information or objective opinions. Will keep checking back but otherwise I guess I'll just enjoy my pup and try not to think about all of this too much.
