    AKC / UKC / ADBA Kayo's Pick Your Poison (Jager)

    I have a nice 8 month old blue fawn (dark pigmented) male that is available. He would be a good OB/Rally prospect. He has is ears cropped, crate trained, does well with other dogs and my cat so far. Could still use some house training. Very loving boy but does have bounds of energy. He is NOT available for breeding purposes. Would prefer either a working home, or just a loving pet home. Jager has no health issues and is out of health tested parents, and grandparents etc...

    Why am I placing him:::::
    Jager was a pick puppy that was being co-owned with myself (breeder) and an AKC handler in the expectations of him being specials material ( meaning a top ten AKC show dog on the circuit) unfortunately he does show the making of this caliber. He has no major fault, ie: gay tail, bad bite, etc.. He does have a beautiful neck, topline, tail set, tight feet, but is lacking in the head piece needed for AKC. He could use more stop, and more cheek.
    Why don't I keep him:::
    If the right home is not available for my boy, he WILL stay here. He loves being with people and I feel someone who has more time to spend with him doing things would/could be better. I am gone almost every weekend for either sons soccer, and dog shows. He would prefer (if he could speak) lol to be someones heart dog, buddy, sleeping companion, a special bond, or OB rally prospect. Would love to offer this type of pup to someone looking for this type of pup.
    I do not want people emailing or calling wanting this boy for breeding, this will not happen. If a family pet home is what comes for him, he will be neutered/or must be neuterd. If a home looking for a competition OB/Rally dog I will then provide limited registration papers on him to prevent breeding etc...

    Sorry so long but want to give as much detail as possible to give him the best oppurtunity at finding his special person and to also give someone the opportunity to find their forever dog. Jager is available for no charge, but if pet home they must pay for neutering. Any questions please do not hesitate to contact or ask.
    He should mature out no more than 19-19 1/2 " and weight should be between 50-56 lbs. My dogs are very old standard AKC. Which I love.....:lol::cool:

    Will take more pictures this weekend. The first two are terrible cell phone pictures,:( and the baby picture was when he was a wee one :cool:

    Im not to educated on AKC standard... but what do you mean by his head piece? HE is absolutly gorgeous either way and hope that you can find the right home for him.

    Basically he doesn't have he right head/skull structure to be favored in the show ring. As she/he said the cheeks are narrower than ideal and the line from the top of the skull to the tip of the nose is too soft without enough of a clear stop where the brow raises.

    Good luck finding him a home.

    Hey Woot, he lacks in stop (zygomatic arch prominence) meaning his muzzle has more slope to it. The point where the muzzle comes into the head is to shallow. His nose is more tappered than preffered. Trying to find head study pictures, will post once I find them.

    The American Staffordshire Terrier head

    "Head: Medium length, deep through, broad skull, very pronounced cheek muscles, distinct stop"

    Its certainly not my place to judge, nor is it my place to force my breeding beliefs on others, but I just wonder, when you describe him as being only 8 months old, if you should give him some time to develop more head and cheek before "giving up", as you say he is otherwise a near flawless dog.

    My other concern is-- if he is indeed a near flawless dog, just not *quite right* for the Specials you want him for-- would it not be a disservice to his breed to neuter him? Doesnt the breed desperately need QUALITY dogs reproducing, rather than subpar dogs? At the very least I urge you to have him collected. His greatness, head lacking or not, might be needed later!

    thank you for the clarification. So is it possible for whoever does decide to take him to still show him for experience purposes?

    If he is lacking to the standard of the breeder. He is a subpar dog. Also just because a dog don't have papers Wont stop someone from breeding him.

    How big is he? (height, weight) and how big do you think he will be when he fully matures? Any ball or tug drive? Do you have pictures of the sire/dam?

    He could show and probably be a good first show dog for someone, he would be able to get his UKC CH with ease and right now he would probably do well in ADBA. AKC would be harder but possible, and a real possibilty if they sent him off with a handler. lol
    Compared to his brothers, especially Sako and his sisters he is sub-par to them. I also appreciate everyones ideas, but as one that breeds and shows, my prupose is not to brred something sub-par when I don't prefer something. Hope that made sense. I am just looking for a wonderful home for him and I appreciate everyones compliments on him. If you know anyone that could benefit byhim, or he would benefit for please contact me and we discuss.
    Woot - your welcome, hope that helped explain...

    You think that sub par dogs should be bred? Aren't there enough dogs in the world already..? Not that I want to turn this into some kind of debate, but that comment really stood out to me.

    This is a nice pup that needs a great home, plain & simple.

    He currently is 18" AND 40lbs. He should mature out to between 19-19 1/2" and 55lbs I would guess. I am just starting to see wht he likes or dislikes as far as toy or food drive goes. I just got him back from the handler less than a week ago. Under amstaff pictures is pictures of Mom - P.J. and Daddy Cash as weel as his grandparents, trying to figure out how to paste link ...lol

    Well, I guess I could lie and tell evryone he is the best show dog ever!!! The pictures of him are attached for anyone to see, he is not an Ugly dog, just not the making of a Specials show dog. This doesn't mean he wouldn't make a great dog for someone.
