I'm sure this has been discussed before but i am in a hurry for an answer, and have very little time to research with this work schedule.

Anyways I am in Hawaii for work and my dog is back on the mainland with my family, but seeing how everyone has full time jobs my dog gets left out back quite a bit and managed to pick up some flea's ( he has never been an outside dog for this reason ) but thats life with a dog. Anyways i gotta find him the RIGHT medication to get rid of them asap, and then my dad said he would spray the house / yard. But i am having trouble finding the right one for him online, i found advantage blue and just advantage. He is 57lbs as of this morning and is about a year and a half old. If someone could just post a link directing me in the right path or just to the exact medication i need it would be very appreciated, i can imagine having fleas is no fun, so i would like to get it shipped back home as soon as possible so they can treat him.

    Thank you!

I prefer Advantage. Here, Frontline is like a super attractive thing for ticks and it doesn't work worth a darn. The Advantage works much better.

Where do they live at? Some areas fleas are resistant to Frontline. I'd get one like Frontline Plus or K9 Advantix just so your dog is also protected against ticks, just on the off chance.

I use Frontline Plus. Never had a problem.

Well i decided to go ahead and do a search and i went ahead and ordered some frontline plus. this topic has come up quite a bit i found when doing the search, i saw most people where using frontline and revolution. I guess it really depends on the dog, but i forgot to make note of the fact that he had demodex as a pup, and had dry flaky skin up until the end of last summer so i wanted to use whatever seemed more friendly, and frontline seems to be the best way to go, also it is non toxic and water proof which are ups. we will see how it works on him, if not i will get some advantage.

we use revolution. its works on our pitties but not on our rottie (she has very sensitive skin.. frontline plus works best on her)..

I use a combination of Sentinel and Comfortis and it WORKS. In humid bug filled Louisiana. If it works here, it has to work in a mild climate like San Diego.

Advantage for sure...Frontline doesnt work were I live either! They got some stuff where I live that i use once in a while and its the best I ever saw!Called pill with a meal, just a pill u give it to them right after they eat ,it will kill every flea on them within 4 hrs and not like a capstar, this pill works for an entire month..they actually become walking flea killing machines ,so it not only kills the fleas on them it actually helps control the flea population in your yard, because it kills fresh flea's once it gets on the dog within 4 hrs..This is the best stuff i have ever saw !But to the OP if u go with the advantage which does work in my area anyway,,spend 5 bucks and give him a capstar its a pill also and will kill all the fleas on him, then put the advantage on him..dont bathe him first ,give him a capstar..Capstar only works one time now ,,not all month!

i suggest revolution. and if you wna go the natural way..which works AWESOME ... you can get some NEEM OIL (the internal kind) and apply it topically...

Trial and error. Some fleas seem to be more resistant to some stuff than others. Frontline works fine here in west Texas where there doesn't seem to be a huge flea stronghold. With the resilient and prolific fleas in St. Louis, we used Advantage when the Frontline failed. However, Advantage at that time cost us double what Fronline cost, so we only used it when we had to.

The k9 advantix II was cheaper than the frontline and also was for 4 months instead of 3... I live in the Memphis area....I hope it continues to work so well!!
