ADBA show things you should know?

I do ADBA fun events all the time (with Mid Florida), I've done AKC shows, but I'm heading to my first ADBA show in March (the Chipley show) and I'm hoping someone here can maybe make me a bit less anxious about it.

I've got my room booked (super 8), I'm bringing the Pit mutt (I've got no one I can trust to watch her), I know where to go, and I'm not sure what else to expect.
Anything I should know that I might not? Anything that may be "need to know" information?
Are ADBA shows filled with vendors like AKC shows tend to be?
Will there be anything for my pit mutt to do? And if so do I need ADBA's LPP registration for it? If so can I do that on site?

(I'm actually surprised we don't have a sticky for this. I know a lot of the etiquette already from my other events (such as not talking to people until after they had their time in the ring), but I'm sure a lot of people would benefit from that kind of information in addition to how to find an event)

I've only been to one show but it was so laid back I don't see anything to be anxious about. :)

I don't have experience handling or anything so I can't help with that.

I would love a thread for information as you mentioned!

My partner Elissa will be at that show actually so will be more than happy to meet up with you, shoot us an e-mail. If your dog is WP trained, WP could be a possibility but if not, there really won't be any activities for your dog to do. Make sure you bring a crate, if you hope to do any meet and greets with other dogs/handlers there you'll have to put your dog away. If you want something to do, we've got some pups you're welcome to take in the ring. There should be vendors, maybe not as many as at a typical AKC show.

I've been to a few shows as an observer. Everyone was super nice so no worries there :-) It seems those that show at these events are all super laid back, nothing at all like an AKC or UKC.
From what I have been able to read about this show, there seems to be quite a bit of fun things going to take place!
    Have fun!

Just finished reading it! I learned quite a bit, though it's all from the in ring perspective and I was thinking about simply going to the event information as well. We encourage people to go to shows all the time but not so much on what to do and how to act when you're there.

We've got our way too big house crate that we drag along to all the events. One of these days I'm investing in a somewhat smaller solid metal one specifically for events.

We're learning weight pull currently, so we would be down for practice sessions but not so much ready for a competition. From my understanding ADBA only lets ADBA registered dogs pull as well not even allowing LPP dogs though (which is a shame!) which would still leave us out.

And I am ecstatic to get a chance to meet one of you in person finally! I had emailed you previously about a potential prospect in a few years, though we both agreed a pup off Spike would likely be too much for me to handle.
I would absolutely love to take one of the pups in the ring if it's possible, I've been practicing my handling at the fun shows with Sookie (we even win sometimes!) but obviously the opportunity to do a real event hasn't been available to us.

It's looking like they're going to have some fun shows, but we'll need an LPP to do that. I don't know if applying now would be too late (and the only camera I have access to is a low res Iphone at the moment), and I don't know if they'll be able to set us up while there.
I'm also wondering about dress style. I know with AKC it's a very... up scale affair, women in ring wear slacks, skirts, or dressed. I take it ADBA isn't like this though. Generally my partner and I are 100% barefoot unless at work (yes I know it's strange, I don't think anyone here would be too interested in it all though ), would something like that be an issue here?

I have horrible anxiety and can worry about anything and everything. I'm asking a million questions though so that hopefully I can relax for the next two weeks instead of going "oh god, what about this, this, this, and this!?"
