What does pack mentality say about protecting each other? I think the answer would lie there.

Its a pretty known fact on many forums that these dogs do not get the positive recognition that they deserve. Hell i cant remember the last time i heard something good about them, but that doesnt mean it doesnt happen.

Michele, i understand what you are saying. Biting "no matter what" is generally meaning fear biting and temperment problems. I think in the general APBT community, protection is not really considered biting, if that makes sense lol.

The term "no matter what" generally means regardless of the circumstances or reasoning.

Sadly there ARE well-bred 'pit bulls' with poor temperaments. Although genetics plays a very important role in temperament, dogs are individuals thus are capable of displaying individual temperaments regardless of their breeding and/or upbringing. I've personally seen an exceptionally bred APBT be a HA p.o.s. and have to be put down. I have yet to hear of any of the litter mates or other dogs bred the same having these problems.

Would never belly crawl under the deck through the mud and pop out and run in the house while I am still at the other end of the deck with my head under it wondering how the heck she got under there and how I was going to get her out

She would also not happily roll around on the furniture with her mud belly once she figured out she tricked me...
