Well I got this sooner than I was expecting. My hubby had the guilt trip thrown on him when he didn't wake up to come pick me up from work  so now I have a new family member :p

here "it" is, will find out if its male or female sometime soon but kinda hard to tell at this age (to fast moving and such, we think it might be female though)

and the habitat, yea most of its fish decorations but they work for both and I washed everything in vinegar water so its all safe (the substrate is paper towels, that is what everything I read said was best >.<)

I will try to get more photos sometime but it was a long day for the little one and didn't want it to be too much more stressed (got it at a "local" pet shop)

oh yea and all these were taken under the red light with a flash lol with my crap point and shoot so sorry they are blury, and my tank is OLD, its my old fish tank from when I was a kid, I cleaned it as best I could with vinegar but couldn't get all the smudges out you know

NICE! Well its got a jungle pattern lol thats all I know! I would gut load and dust the bugs, because its tail is awfully thin. Also, if you can hold it, lift up its tail and take a picture of the under side, I can help tell you if its male or female.
Most males have "balls" behind their vent, but they also have a different looking vent area.

ok, will do, the friends tried to look but it squrimed so much it was just a peak, I just donno if its old enough, I read one post on a forum where they were trying to figure out if this female was a male but it weighed only 12 grams so they said wait till its 20

I know its so skinny, I hope I can fatten it up, my friends (wish I had a picture of her >.<) has a FAT tail, and its growing it back, it accidentally lost its tail (they are so mad at themselves over it too) but its about 4 inches long(the tail) and like over an inch wide, fat little girl :D

Its possible, just a little harder.

Yea my guy is kind of small for my liking, he is like 54 grams. I think him and the female have bumped up in weight after being in my care though lol

You got a cute little bugger though!

thank you :D I can't get enough of it, I keep going out and looking to see if its out, I might put another cricket in, I mean I have the freeze dried stuff in there with the cal/vit stuff in it but just donno if its interested in that, but my luck would be I would drop the stupid insect on the floor lol

Your not scared of crickets are you? Lol. I would open whatever they are in, inside the tank or over top of it, and force it to fall out or hop out into the tank.
Thats what I did when I had 50+ in a small holding cup lol

Thats how I was when I got mine, I kept messing with them and there is even a chair next to the tank so I can sit there and watch them lol

hehe no, I did it, I just didn't want a powder covered cricket running around the house and have to let Goren go eat it >.< he is momma's bug exterminator hehe, I ended up getting one out over the tank and got it in the bag with the powder and it plopped right in the dust so it was coated without even shaking haha, then I opened the bag and had it move to the edge and shook it into the tank so I didnt even rub the powder off. I am proud of myself haha

Damn fine job you did there!

Lol@Goren, I set my cat on bugs. She is so fascinated with the meal worm bucket, and I gave her one and she wouldnt eat the stupid thing lol

lol, I love your cat >.< yea Goren is a good boy, he caught a mouse while you were gone :D I was so proud of him, I went to work and the hubby texted me saying he caught one, he brought it to the hubby like a cat does and gave it to him lol.

so cute! other then the jungle pattern "she" looks a lot like my Sprinkles did as a baby. (She is the one on the far right) [IMG]
i am really happy to hear that you are using paper towels. i started with paper towels and now use reptile carpet for cost savings i just wash them and rotate them.
i would strongly suggest a humid shed box though.

also for sexing her like Pookie said males will have little "balls" visable near the vent if it is a male it will also have a little v shape of little dots above the vent area if it is a male. http://www.reptilecare.com/leopardgender.htm

cool, your Sprinkles is so adorable, I hope mine turns out looking so cute as an adult! Yea I think I will stick with the paper towels because knowing me I would be washing every day and need a ton, I am all for a full cleaning of reptile tanks every day not every week.

I tried to pick it up when I woke up (probably my bad because it was like noon) but it hissed at me haha so I am ganna wait till tonight, turn off the heat light and after dark have my hubby try to get it up, then see if he can hold it to get a shot of its underside.

I know I probably coulda pestered it to pick it up but I don't want to stress the little guy out after less than 24 hours of a new enclosure and no tank mate (there were 2 in the tank at the pet store, probably egg mates). I just hope the jolt and hissing and all the other stress signs don't occur tonight, I want to keep it easily handleable and if I can't pick it up soon I am scared it might not be handleable after a few days to where we have to retame it or whatever

An idea to get an underside shot, if you have a glass table, put it on that then take a picture from the underside of the table? lol I am being creative lol

    Team Peanut GRCH Dog

that is actually a great idea...maybe remove a little section of the paper towel and look under the tank. that way you don't stress the little guy out in his first days in his new home. we didn't handle ours for maybe a week until they were comfortable and they tamed faster that way because they were not so stressed out. or just wait until it is comfortable and doesn't mind handlings.

ok, yea I am having my friend come over on Thursday if she has time, if not we will probably just hold off, hers is so slow and lazy now that she is older, oh yea him/her current name is Zanis (donno if that is the spelling or not lol) but it might change if its a boy or a girl :D I will try the clearing out the paper towels today or tomorrow and see, at least its eating very well, it has eaten every cricket I have put in the tank. I go to Indianapolis on Wed. and am coming home on Thursday, you think mealworms and crickets would be ok for about a 3 or 4 hour drive? maybe I need to get something if I buy more crickets, but really what about mealworms because I bet I can find some there. oh yea and if I get mealworms what is the best cheap kind of dish to put them in for the gecko to eat them out of, I donno where to get a smooth sided dish, well maybe I have one, I donno how smooth the 2 dish combo thing I have is, and the cricket food really doesn't need to be in the 2nd side lol

Pet Co our Petsmart should have meal worms they are pretty common they are usually in a fridge. I have a little curved side dish for meal worms

    Elliehanna GRCH Dog

ok cool, didn't see any at the petsmart when I got the crickets but then again I didn't ask

  17. Team Peanut

    Team Peanut GRCH Dog

our petco keeps them in a fridge in the reptile section. next time you go just ask them if they have mealworms i am sure they would have them.

oh, when you feed you are gut loading the food right?

  18. Elliehanna

    Elliehanna GRCH Dog

    ok

yea I am, I bought cricket food and the crickets have access and there little cage has a lot of poop in it now lol, also have a piece in the tank so if Zanis doesn't eat them right away they still have food.

well I was gone to get my tooth filled and the cricket cage was exactly how I left it...I get to ask the hubby if he fed the gecko in the 36 hours or so I was gone...if not I will not be happy lol
