22 pit bulls found at home of school employee nabbed with $500k in heroin; dog-fighting charges could follow

A Birmingham City Schools employee arrested last week with $500,000 worth of heroin could face additional charges for an alleged dog-fighting ring.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency on Friday announced the arrest of 45-year-old Charles Edward Walker Jr. The suspected drug dealer was taken into custody Thursday, said Sr. State Trooper Chuck Daniel.

Birmingham police on Monday released more information about Walker's arrest, and said they found 22 pit bull dogs at his home - 17 adults and five puppies. "The dogs appeared to be in an unhealthy condition and were obviously used for dog-fighting operations,'' according to a statement released by the department.

Walker is an employee of the city school system, and works in technical services and computer support. Schools' spokeswoman Chanda Temple confirmed Walker's employment, but said because it is a personnel matter she could not further comment.

Law enforcement officials who announced Walker's arrest did not mention any involvement related to schools or Walker's position with the system.

I am sure that man will get what he has coming to him, whether it is by the legal system, or by God.

Unfortunately most likely he will get a slap on the wrist and continue. Had to hug my pup after reading that...
