1yr old Male not lifting leg

I have a 5 year old intact male that squats to pee most of the time, and a spayed female that lifts her leg to pee most of the time...
My 1 year old intact male squats some times, and lifts his leg some times. I'm hoping he'll hike his leg up more often than not, LOL.

What, how can you people not want males that lift their legs? I want to strangle Melon every time he decides not to lift his leg, because he ends up peeing all over his front legs and then I have to clean up pissfoot before he can come inside.

All the piss paw talk in this thread is starting to make me glad my dog isn't a male.

Is your female spayed,if not you'll be/are playing connect the dots!
Yep, no worries there. She was adopted from a rescue, pretty much all of them here spay/neuter adult dogs immediately upon intake.

My dog used to lift his front paw when he squatted so he didn't get himself dirty. Then would hop around and over the pee to not get it on his paws. He was dainty as hell.

Now he gives zero shits.

Lol Nick never gets a drop on his front legs. He's smart enough to get down low
My pup is hilarious after a nap/when he is tired he squats so much that his junk is almost touching the ground, compared to when he's playing he does a half squat(one side only)

When we were feeding Hank PMR he wouldn't dare touch the food with his paws, but I guess pee he couldn't give a rats butt about!

Are there any "signs" that he will be lifting his leg or will he be like the husky I had and just all of a sudden one day do it? (Or like some dogs mentioned, just never do it at all)

I definitely see how his dopey self could still pee on his legs with the leg lifted too, though.

Maybe it has something to do with not being around other dogs? He doesn't see anyone do it to follow them? I'm throwing out anything here lol

Barrett still manages to pee all over his front legs even when he does lift his leg LOL. Sako was the same way when he was younger.. I'm hoping Barrett grows out of it just like Sako did. I wasn't kidding when I said I have to hose his legs off 3-4 times a day earlier. It's so annoying.

And this is why I'm afraid to ever get a male dog

Eeewwww. You need to invent like... a shield that goes behind his front legs. Hahaha.

My male has always been a squatter(he's only 17 months), never has gotten pee anywhere close to his front legs, thank goodness!

Don't worry!
Some dogs don't
Also with him not being neutered you probably should (if your not breeding him) because they can get cancers.
He could of not gone through puberty, my female dog didn't until she was 2 !
