My pup tracked a deer this afternoon. I have been reading about how to train a dog to track deer. Much to my surprise, Gotti seems to be a natural at. Very happy to see him pick up the trail and locate the deer within ten minutes. I showed him the arrow and some blood , then he was handful to walk on the leash. As I was trying to go slow looking for blood he was crawling/ pulling me much faster than I could look for blood. I was wondering if if he was just randomly pulling me through the woods. However, I let him go the route he wanted to travel and it ended up being the last route of the deer. I was shocked to see that he took me right to the deer.

I moved this to the General Dog Discussion forum. Sounds like he has a good nose for tracking deer.
