Default For those that have this Pet Edge Crate....

ProSelect Empire Cages

ProSelect® Empire Cages are the world’s strongest cages. These steel cages include a floor grate, steel tray, and locking casters.

How confident are you in these cages?

Would you be willing to crate your dog in this in a room filled with bunnies, steaks, and chihuahuas unsupervised?

I may be moving to a very small place, and may be purchasing this crate to keep in the livingroom. I need to be super sure my boy will absolutely NOT be able to get out of this crate.

Wow - that thing is impressive!
All except for the locking mechanism. It looks like it is just tac welded on there.
I would probably use a couple of caribiner type clasps on it just to be safe.

I dunno though - all my dogs are easy in crates, so I am lucky.

Wow it looks heavy duty but dang that's a lot for a crate. Does your dog destroy a good plastic one or something? There are junk plastic, and good plastic ones IMO.

That is one hell of a crate. I just have the Petmate crates that I got at Walmart. My dogs are really calm about being in a crate. All but one on my dogs love their crate.

I'm a little curious as to why you feel you need a crate that... well... advanced? Has your dog gotten out of crates before? I have a pet edge crate for Hachi that I feel is fairly sturdy and she has never gotten out of... (http://homeandkennel.petedge.com/Pro...CategoryId=502)

The only complaint I have is that thing is HEAVY!! I broke down and bought a fabric one that I use at shows now- man I love that thing! (She has never gotten out of that one either but she did bend one of the sides a little when I left her alone in it at my Auntie's house...obviously I don't do that any more!)

They are supposed to be really great. I remember people who had them talking about it on PBF awhile back.

Boogie and Blue Rose...

yes, he has destroyed several metal crates already. I haven't tried the plastic airline variety, mainly because I want to just skip that step. He has literally broken the welds on his other metal crates, and I'm not confident that he couldn't break through an airline crate, even though I've heard they are sturdier.

I have come home one too many times to a bleeding puppy

If he does happen to get out of the crate when I'm not home, there is a very good chance I could come home to dead cats, and that's not a risk I'm willing to take.

A friend of mine bought that crate for her resident escape-artist, and the dog hasn't managed to break out of it yet.
