Gus seems to have a problem with just about any collar we get him. It rubs on his neck and like wears the hair off. I am not sure if this is normal because it doesn't happen to Bella and no other dog i have had has had this problem. He is Part American Bulldog so his neck has a couple of rolls of skin. Maybe that is part of the problem. It doesnt seem painful to him just rubs the hair off. Anyone know of any collar that probably wouldn't rub? thanks for any help i get!

Stillwater makes a nylon collar with seatbelt material on the inside and out. That's worked pretty well for me for preventing collar rub.

I use a leather collar with suede lining from collar mania. I have a nylon one that rubs his hair off sometimes but the suede lining on the leather one is really soft and works well.

I have just started making some Leather collars with Deer Skin lining. They are very soft. I plan to add them to sight as soon, as I have plenty ready.


I used to make the padded collars, and am making some this week for a special order, but I have found the seatbelt tends to be less abrassive on dogs neck.

There's a collar called a fur saver.. it's like a chain collar, but the links are large and flat so it doesn't rub the hair. I don't know what you need the collar for necessarily, if you need a really sturdy one or just one to have on the dog all the time.
