I won't do it no more. I thought my dog was well trained. Well one day she just couldn't resist that rabbit running into the bush. Well she turned and stopped well so did I. The bike kept going.

Felt like she ripped my shoulder out the socket. I wont ever go biking with a dog again.

I thought about that, so I run them on a gentle leader so I have more control.

I've tried it before, I can't get Lucy to go within 10 feet of the bike, she seems to be afraid of the bike (she has a few, random fears, mostly just the bike and brooms/sticks), walking is easier, lol.

I have tried it and enjoyed it but there have been a few close calls with the dog going for a chipmunk or squirrel. lol.

We ride with ours. Murphy (3 and a half year old lab/pit mix) absolutely loves it. He goes nuts when he sees the bikes. Wilbur (5 month old APBT) is learning slowly, but seems to enjoy a little tool around the block. I highly suggest getting one of the leashes specially designed for the bikes. It makes it a lot easier.
Here are a couple of links to try.

I had a similar experience with Hachi...I still have the scars from it. Ouch!

I love being able to bike with my dog. He is such a spaz when he realizes we are going on a bike ride. When I get home from work and let him out he goes straight to my bike and sits there whining at me. I can't say all our rides have been fun, but they have helped our bond grow and challenge his obedience. I think it is by far the scariest and the funnest thing we do together.

i would love to bike with my dogs, but I am afraid to. I'm afraid they will pull toward something they see and I will fly to the ground. I wish I had money to get that dog bike thing.

I started to bike with my pup last month. He is just turning 6mos so we have only gone on very short slow rides so far. I just want to get him use to the bike so he isnt afraid of it. We just go around the block for now. I am working on comands with him like slow and stop. I dont let him pull me I figure that is just asking to be pulled off the bike.

I do. i dont do that much due to the winter season.(cold snow on road etc.) But once it warms up, im going all out with rex. Its so much easier then walking. (i get lazy at times when i walk, id rather sit down on the bike)

Hell yea, we bike every night! Trouble loves it, we take walk then bust out the bike and he pulls like a freight train. We have had our ahare of crashes, its fun though lol. He loves it, i love it and he knows thats our special activity together that he doesnt do with anyone else. He wears a harness when we do it now, i didnt like the idea of a collar pulling on his neck.

I forgot all about this thread but wanted to talk some more about this biking. I live in a great area where Sixx and I mountain biked daily over the summer. I think trail riding has made him the social obediant well mannered dog that he has become. He knows he has to run behind me and when people or other dogs are crossing our path he has to sit and be greeted. Sixx is a little over a year old and I am so proud that this summer we took the time to master these little skills. I can take him anywhere and know that despite his curious nature he will listen to me and show everyone how great a pit bull can be...loyal, obediant, athletic, good natured, full of life...and of course my best biking buddy!!! I am so lucky to have adopted the crazy guy and share many more biking summers to come. I hope everyone can gain and maintain a strong bond with their pitties...after all, they just want to be loved and have fun with their owners...and I haven't found a better way to show him this than biking!!!

I have seen some seriouse trail dogs that are amazing. Search you tube for downhill mountain bike and look for the one with the dog following the guy downhill. I think he even passes the bike a couple times.
