Don't try to condition a puppy. He needs to be allowed to be a pup. Play with him, give him high quality food, and training. Actively trying to condition a dog that isn't done growing yet can cause muscular and skeletal growth problems.

Awesome PRADO !!! You are doing all the right stuff ... don't change anything right now, and don't overdo the "runs" or try to condition right now ... "What Galadriel said" !!! ... conditioning will come much later

There are a few threads about good foods here. Use the search function and you'll find some good info.
Most of the stuff you find at grocery stores or chain pet stores is not going to be a high quality food. I feed Canidae All Life Stages and my dog does well on it, others have had issues. You have to stick to one food for a while to determine if your pup is going to like and thrive on it.

I would not feed ANYTHING from a grocery store. I will highly recommend Innova product line of dog food. When you buy quality dog food, it will cost more per pound, but you will not have to feed as much of it as a lower quality food, so the expense is relative.

Here is a link to a site that does dog food analysis and ratings: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/ on the toolbar of that site, click on "Reviews".

Do not take the pup on runs at this age. He should be running and playing naturally not forced. This is how joints and bones get injured and damaged.

Pups are not supposed to preform like adults and they need to develop muscle tone naturally

Also how long are the walks? Short more frequent walks would be better. Since the pup can not be fully vaccinated at this age he is still susceptible to things like parvo so walking off your own property were he can be exposed isn't really the greatest idea. One set of shots is not enough.

Enjoy your pup and check out the sticky on training and socializing pups.

Try Royal Cannin... my 9 wk old pup loves that stuff... she eats it like crazy... and its great for her too... they have them for all developmental stages... the great thing is that they hook you up with samples just to try before you buy... so go to the pet store and i'm sure they'll have tons of samples for all kinds of breeds and stages...

I feed my puppy Innova Puppy formula and she LOVES it. It's by far the food she's liked the most. (I switched her a few times due to issues and finally ended up with Innova).

You know what I've researching home cooked meals... at first I was like no way, but the recipes are so easy... even I could it them.. i just printed a bunch and i'm definitely going to try them... that way I know exactly what i'm feeding her. I'm going to try the basic chicken and rice with oats... all you have to do is boil the chicken shred it, steam a cup of rice and add the oats at the end... sounds so easy... imma try it i'll let you know if she likes it... i'm asuming she will... i was even thinking of throwing some cooked carrots in it and maybe celery... dayam i'm getting hungry now...

ps... i just read the reviews on Royal Cannin, and once again I was mislead by the dayam bag cover... i should have read the reviews first... i'm going to slowly take her off of that... Innova has great reviews, they even recommended it... so good job!!

We are really lucky here as we have a football stadium in a small town community park that is fully fenced. We take Buck, Rusty, Thor and Sif on a walk from the car to the stadium and a few toys and they LOVE the freedom. Of course we do poop policing and stuff! LOL It even has a spicket for drinks and cool downs! They could probably charge us and we would still come... :| We are feeding Blue Buffalo puppy and all love it.

I fully agree with Patch O' Pits...I hate seeing tiny puppies at PetSmart and stuff. They just don't belong so many places until they are vaccinated - for their own safety.
