Adorable LEO is a little over a year old and currently at a shelter in New York. He was surrendered because of a relationship split. Unfortunately, as the relationship soured he was kept in his crate most of the time at an age where a well-socialized adolescent bull terrier would be interacting productively with both canines and humans, getting belly rubs and learning basic manners. Leo is an adorable young bully who deserves the chance he never had to learn how to be a "good" dog. Leo is a resource-guarder (sometimes called "food aggressive") but otherwise a happy boy when his food bowl is not around. This is not an uncommon problem and can be overcome with time and consistency through basic desensitization and management techniques. We particularly recommend the book Mine by Jean Donaldson but can also supply training literature and help find professional assistance for Leo's "forever home." We're not sure of his ability to interact nicely with other animals but, to be honest, after his unfair start in life, he truly deserves the time and love of being an only pet.
