Question Looking for Weight Pull Advice

I'm hoping that some experienced people out there can give me some good advice. I have been weight pulling my girl, Hachi, for about 7 months now. I work her out with drag weights and I also have a wheeled cart. Three weeks ago she was bred- my vet advised me not to change her exercise routine until she was about halfway through her pregnancy. However, I worry that allowing her to continue to pull as much weight as she usualy does will be too much for her so I have cut back the amount of weight she is pulling by about half. So I am wondering what other people have done in this situation. Do you allow the bitch to pull what she is used to or cut her back right away?

how old was she when you started weight pulling with her 7 months ago? you should wait until she is mature to start working with weight pulling to avoid any bone damage when the bones are still growing.

as far as breeding her, you are breeding her at what age? do you follow the Breeders Code of Ethics and title and health test her for all the necessary health issues (which is NOT done by your vet).

i would cut back on her exercise, but thats just me.

Not sure how this is usualy done (posting a reply I mean) but Hachi was 2 years old when she started pulling; she has her UWP title and is only 1 win away from her GRCH title! She is health tested and is certified through the OFA for her hips, heart and thyroid. She will be 3 years old this Wednsday and this will be her FIRST litter...

I would take the safe path like you did and cut her back...

I personally would stop pulling her, and just do light exercise like walks with her. Better safe than sorry.

I would cut back too.

Now in reality , if you ask an expert , you should follow the experts advice.

I am in no way qualified to debate / second guess a vet , who has been formally trained. Still in all , it would seem like common sense & in mom & pups best interest , to pamper her as much as possible. That is from a human biological perspective only.

Yes, sadly the breeding didn't take but we did an A.I. so I will try a natural breeding on her next heat.
