| I'm not sure if I am posting in the right forum or not, but I saw the thread about the 2 in. collars, and I started thinking. As those of you who have talked to me and know my situation know, my dogs have to stay outside and put up. One of my dogs has gotten to where, when she is playing with a bottle or toy, and she throws it, or knocks it a little farther that her reach, she will litterally almost choke herself with her collar and the chain until she can get it back, or we give it back to her. We currently have her in a one inch collar. For her safety, is there something that I can do that would help prevent her from choking as much? for those of you who don't know me, please know that I would love to have my dogs inside, but there is just no possible way for many reasons. Please leave the aspect that they should be allowed inside out of this conversation, because there is nothing that I can do until I get my own place, and am not having to live by someone else's rules. I am looking for solutions that will keep her from having as much strain as she does on her throat when she pulls like that.:crossfingers: __________________ Nala and Hunnie, you are once again mine. ![]() Now I know I can protect you. Secondly, I agree a 2-inch collar would would more sufficient....our dogs pull like crazy all day long, it is normal for this breed to have a high drive. If you are having problems with the collar rubbing around the dogs neck, then you should try to get a seatbelt collar, this material is a lot easier on the skin and will not rub as badly...you can also (with the seatbelt collar) use a collar swivel, they will let the pressure off by allowing the chain to "turn" instead of twist.... Both can be ordered from a VERY reputable man on this board with products that are up to par with the quality and work load this breed needs..... Stillwater: http://www.stillwaterkennelsupply.com/dogcollers.htm http://www.stillwaterkennelsupply.com/hardware.htm We, among a lot of other people (on this board and in this breed) use his products and they are by far the best we have used and prices that you cannot beat! __________________ I never put anyone through hell! I would not recommend a harness on the chain at all..... Harness can easily be manipulated to set the dog free....you do not want this...plus IMO....it could cause unwanted discomfort, being they are for walking or weight pulling, and not meant for maintaining 24/7 DO NOT QUOTE ME ON THIS.....but I THINK that if you ask Shane (stillwater) he can add you something on the end of the collar to prevent chewing and destruction.....I would ask! __________________ I never put anyone through hell! | Contact the link that FK gave you. We have 5 dogs and all five are outside 24/7 with the exception of 2 that come in every night. The all pull and it the end of their chain. they all have 15ft chains on axels with swivels on both ends attched to o rings and we also have a 2 inch collars from stillwater. but we use the velcro ones so the end of the collars stick to the collar and it is not hanging. that might be an option for you to use the velcro. __________________ They say you can't turn a bad girl good But once a good girl's gone bad, she's gone forever |

| the velcro ones were the main ones I am interested in. I think that would be the best for them. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who has my dogs outside all the time. thank you guys so much so far. __________________ Nala and Hunnie, you are once again mine. ![]() Now I know I can protect you. | Why does she hit the ehnd of her chain so much? Is it because of the other dogs? Have you moved her to another spot further away? I was just wondering if you know the reason. My boyfriends dogs are VERY active on thoer chains. And Stillwater collars have always withstood it. __________________ They say you can't turn a bad girl good But once a good girl's gone bad, she's gone forever |

| well, she really only pulls on the chain when she can't knocks something out of the reach of the chain. but a funny story that happened, is my new baby, hunnie, broke the runner she has been on because she couldn't reach Kaidance. she would run full speed and the runner would snatch her back...she finally pulled the eye out of the post. __________________ Nala and Hunnie, you are once again mine. ![]() Now I know I can protect you.
