Default K'burg Police arrest five in relation to assault and robbery

Two 17-year-old males and a 28-year-old mother of three used a stolen pit bull as a dangerous weapon during the assault and robbery of a 25-year-old Keansburg man, according to Keansburg police.

Deputy Chief James Pigott said one of the suspects, Tamica Q. Moss, of 46 Seeley Avenue, left her children, aged 5, 7 and 9, in John Donahue Park during the commission of the crime.

A total of five people have been taken into custody in relation to this incident, officials said.

At 5:16 p.m., on Friday, March 21, Ptl. Joseph Jankowski responded to a reported robbery near a two family apartment building on Raritan Avenue, police said.

Pigott said Jankowski soon found the victim, who told the officer he had was assaulted and dragged from behind into the hallway of 92 Raritan Avenue.

According to police, the two juvenile males dragged the victim into the hallway of the apartment building, where they commenced the assault. During the attack, Pigott said Moss held a pit bull at the top of the stairs, threatening the victim as the juveniles beat him.

As the victim continued his attempts to get away, Moss unleashed the pit bull, police reported. Pigott said prior to the pit bull's release, the two juveniles had yelled, "Get him! Get him!"

"Moss then joined the juveniles and the pit bull in assaulting the victim. [Moss] took $137 from [the victim’s] pockets, along with his cell phone, wallet and iPod," the deputy chief said.

According to the Keansburg Police, the victim sustained puncture wounds on his torso, arms and legs. "Some of the wounds were probably defensive, considering he was fighting off three people and a pit bull," Pigott said.

After interviewing the victim at the hospital, members of the Keansburg Street Crimes Unit took the two juvenile males into custody at a separate residence without incident, according to the deputy chief. The pit bull was found at the same residence, and was taken into custody by the Humane Society of Tinton Falls, Pigott said.

Police said they suspected the dog to be stolen, as none of the individuals involved in the crime were believed to own the pit bull. Officials are currently attempting to ascertain the true owner of the dog, and have contacted Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Chief Law Enforcement Officer Victor Amato to assist in that capacity.

The juveniles, from Keansburg and Lakewood, were charged with robbery, kidnapping, possession of a deadly weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and aggravated assault, police said. Pigott said both had been remanded to the Youth Detention Center, Freehold, where they remained as of press time.

After setting up surveillance on Moss' residence for roughly nine hours, Moss was apprehended by Jankowski and Ptl. John Magner on March 23, the deputy chief said.

Pigott said the Keansburg woman faced charges of robbery, criminal restraint, aggravated assault, theft, two counts of hindering apprehension, one count of conspiracy for theft, one count of conspiracy for robbery, tampering with evidence, possession of stolen property, obstruction and endangering the welfare of children.

As of press time, Moss was being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Institute (MCCI), Freehold. Bail was set at $443,500, with no 10 percent option.

Police said Moss has outstanding warrants in Ocean Township, Toms River, Freehold Township, Tinton Falls, Howell Township, Lakewood Township and Asbury Park. Pigott said the charges range from failure to pay fines to failure to comply with sentencing.

On March 24, Pigott said two other residents were arrested in connection with the incident. These include Andrea Stanback, 48, resident of 92 Raritan Avenue, the scene of the alleged crime. Stanback was charged with hindering apprehension and obstructing a police officer, according to the deputy chief.

Stanback's 16-year-old daughter was also arrested on the same charges, Pigott said. She was additionally charged with filing a false police report, he added. They are both being held at the Keansburg Police Department as of press time.

If this is not the STUPIDEST thing I have EVER read in my life, then I do not and will not ever know what was......

Check it out....

A STOLEN "pit bull" was used as a WEAPON....

Moss held a pit bull at the top of the stairs, threatening the victim as the juveniles beat him.
Moss unleashed the pit bull, police reported. Pigott said prior to the pit bull's release, the two juveniles had yelled, "Get him! Get him!"
Moss then joined the juveniles and the pit bull in assaulting the victim. [Moss] took $137 from [the victim’s] pockets, along with his cell phone, wallet and iPod," the deputy chief said.
Some of the wounds were probably defensive, considering he was fighting off three people and a pit bull," Pigott said.
OK, so they have a STOLEN "pit bull" that was nice enough to let somebody steal him, but will attack at THEIR command???? Come on!

AND....
So now the dog was considered to be a deadly weapon, the same one that somebody steal him.....
AND....
How ironic they are not being charged with STEALING THE DOG? They are the ones that had the dog.......

If you ask me this is nothing short of a dirty joke......

Some people will say and and do just about anything to be a "hero" or bearer of bad news...
