Talking No BSL for Florida, at least not this year.

I just got this email from my friend this morning. She is a very active animal law lobbyist.
Just got back from Tallahassee and wanted you to know that HB 101 will NOT be heard on the floor of this session. It remains with no senate sponsor and the Legislators I spoke with assured me it is going NO where.

This is great news for us. They mentioned especially in Hillsborough county they have gotten as many emails on BSL as they did on the Gun regulations bill. That says a lot for us dog owners. That is what it takes to keep this bill down. If they know it will outrage the public, it is most likely not happen.

I want to thank everyone for helping me in defeating this ridiculous bill. (for this session) so don't go away.

Does this mean the Miami-Dade County BSL has been removed?

I have been thinking a lot about this and talking about it with other owners in my area. I am extremely happy that this has not passed. Now, for future reference, who do we contact if they try to bring it up again next year? I am in Jax and was really upset when I heard that they were thinking of passing a BSL law in Florida. I love my dogs more than anything, and now that I know that it has not succeeded, I am going to cuddle with all three of my babies.

Unfortunately no. The Breed Ban in Miami-Dade was imposed before the FSS prohibiting BSL was written. Therefore, it is still unaffected. But at least we won't be getting it in any other counties this year.

Awesome news!!!!! I know of so many people that jumped on board and wrote letters like crazy, nice to know that they were actually being read and thought about.

Any news as to whether this bill is totally dead or will it be revived in the next session?

Thank you so much for the info. I live in Pinellas and I had heard briefly that there was a possible BSL in Florida but as everything else that is truly important it was hush hush as soon as it was mentioned... PLEASE!! keep myself and everyone else in the group updated on this as I am willing to fight it to no end... Never do I want to be faced with such an oppressive and unjust law as something that would take away a loved one and endanger such beautiful animals... It disgusts me that Miami-Dade has such legislation intact. If there's anything that is attempting to fight to overturn their wrongful decision, please let me know, as I'm willing to help the responsible owners of that county to fight for their rights as well.
Thanks again!!
