Default In Memory of my Lily

My baby died 3 years ago today, and I still kick myself about it every time I think of how her life ended so early, she was just 2 months shy of being 4 years old. I still remember the first day I brought her home, an 8 week old puppy, that we had to drive clear out to the Black Hills to get from a breeder, I was 17, my mom got her for me that summer, and I researched and found the breeder, luckily had one slot left on his waiting list for an upcoming litter, only because someone had backed out. She was my dog, my beautiful Weimaraner.

I was at work the tragic day she died. We were living at my parents at the time, and my brother had let her out to potty. He let her out into the front yard, and wasn't paying attention. The one and only time she ever ran into the road in her life, she got hit by a car. My poor brother, only 16 as he was, didn't have a car, and luckily found a neighbor that rushed him and Lily to the vet. Her entire chest cavity, organs, everything were crushed. They live on a highway out in the country, speed limit is supposed to be 55, but people regularly go 70-80 on it. If only I had been there that day, if only I specified to him to never let her in their front yard, only in the back (the house is about 200 feet from the road, they have 15 1/2 acres in the back) He still feels horrible about it all too, my poor baby.

My sweet Lily
