Default help, my dog gets nutty with wheels

my dog gets aggressive with things on wheels. I took her for a walk today and when skateboards or bikes come by she gets really aggressive. She even bit the wheel on a dolley (sp?). She is normally very subdued except with rolling wheels. Hopefully, someone can help me out.

Thanks

I can't help you... but my dog does the same thing. I, like you, wonder if it is normal!

It's prey drive, with maybe a touch of fear from lack of socialization with fast moving things . All dogs have prey drive, some very little, some tons, it's just the need to chase and catch anything fast and noisy.

Work on desensitizing the dog by getting a volunteer to ride a bike at a safe distance away, far enough so the dogs reaction is mild to none (say 20 feet). At the first sight of the bike, reward and praise for non reaction to the movement. Continually but slowly progress closer and closer until there is no reaction within several feet. This is a long process but will work with consistency and time. And if you must correct the dog, make sure your timing is dead on, correct the dog at the FIRST sign of reaction, not when the dog is in full blown prey drive.

Thanks as well. I was pretty sure it was something to do with not being use to it or the drive to want to chase things.
