Default Rufus graduated to.....

being semi loose in the house.. it took 5 years, but the past 2 days he has been able to be loose in the tv room with a baby gate up so jesse cant be with him.. he goes in the tv room as that is where his crate is, and so far for 2 days he hasnt eaten any furniture LOL.... i wanted to try this as i hate him being crated while we are at work, so i figured i would start slow, by allowing him the Tv room access and removed all items he could eat LOL..
so far he still goes in his crate to lay down, but tonight when i got home he greeted me at the baby gate which is wedged between the door and the jukebox.. both him and jesse are terrified of the gates, so i dont have to worry about them knocking them down and being loose together..

hopefully he will continue to behave in the tv room , as if he does, he will continue to get free roam in that room, which is 30feet by 17 feet, which is better then being locked in his crate..

I never crated Bo Bo while we were at work, but I had to put dining room chairs on the sofa and telephone books on the chairs so he wouldn't climb up there(he was a copious shedder and I had to vacuum the house every three days). I bought him a huge 3'X3' pillow so he would have something soft to lay on(we have beautiful wood-grain ceramic tile throughout most of the house except the bedrooms which are carpeted).

When we came back from walks he would spread-eagle out on the tile to cool his belly.

Yay for Rufus!!! He seems so calm in all his pics...like he would be a perfect canidate for "free roam" in safe zones.

Its amazing what they go after...BG chewed a pen on my bed...She only chewed the end but as she was chewing she was writing so I had all these ink squiggles all over my comforter.

(By the way, hairspray removes ink.)

My dog pushed over the baby gate the other day so now he knows that he can get through it if he wants. Oh well he doesn't push it over a lot.

Congrats Rufus...don't ruin it now that we are talking about you

I wish I could go three days before I had to vaccuum again

YAY RUFUS! I always figured being loose in a room would be better than being crated... but most of my dogs just can't get over the temptation of eating stuff! Fairin is the only one!
