Default Just had Marley neutered and he seems more busy.

Hey everyone! I had Marley fixed a few weeks ago. It seems to have made him more hyper, is this normal? He is 8 months old. He just seems more full of himself now, I call him a bully..... Of course he's not really. Since the op he has been more pushy to our older dog, a yellow lab. There play has gotten more aggressive. All of this might be normal, I just don't know. Also, how in the world do I stop the licking? He LOVES to lick, especially kids. The issue I have is that we have friends who are weary about the breed, even though Marley has totally been a surprise to them. they get nervous when he tries to lick their kids faces, like he's going to take it off or something. The sad thing is that none of our friends have any other experience with Pits, other than the media. Anyway, sorry for the rant. Hopefully you can find my question in this somewhere. Thanks in advance. Jeff

Sounds like he's "testing" you and your other dog. Below is a link to NILIF:

As far as the licking, i've heard this from other people. This breed just loves to kiss you.

Thanks for the info. We started training him very young but maybe we need a refresher for Marley. As far as the licking, how do you argue with a dog who wants to give you love? Thanks again.

is the lab neutered as well? some neutered dogs dont like intact dogs.
i would also implement NILIF, and give him more exercise.. he could just be a hyper dog. most times neutering/spaying does not make the animal more calm, that is done by the animals genetics.

The Lab is fixed. She is a female. The exercise makes sense. We have kept him pretty inactive so he wouldn't hurt the incision. I let you know after we get back into the park routine. Thanks.
