Default Pffft, your pooches ain't all that, here's a REAL animal!

Meet Sapphire (Maryellen, you should recognize her!) now that's a CANID!!

Yes, Sapphy is a true, purebred Northern Grey Wolf, I've known her since she was a youngster, she's 5 years old and was raised by hand by my buddy since she was a 2 month old. She's actually a doll, very sweet and quite tame (but you can be damm sure I don't ever forget what she is!)

Nope, she was found abandoned in Montana as a pup, and flown out here to NJ to my buddy Vinnie, who's the only licensed wolf rehabilitator in the northeast, and he hand raised her, hence why she's tame (not domesticated, just tame ). There's actually two wolf people here in NJ, him, and Mike Hodanish, who runs Howlin Dog Rescue in Jackson, he takes in high contents (T2 and T3 mixes) from jackassess who try to bring them in to the tri state area from TN, where they're legal.

She's very pretty...her eyes remind me of Virgo's. I would love to meet a full wolf someday.

yep. Both in Colorado where Im from, and in TN where I live I see alot of this shit (jackasses I mean!). In regards to wolf hybrids there were the jackasses who try to breed and release to "replenish" the natural wolf population. The problem was the animals they were breeding would more often end up as food/competition to the wolf packs that did exist in that area and hybrids mwwt their death either way. Some were accepted (a very small percentage) and others just scavenged the best they could and most dwindled away. I really don't think the wolf hybrids are an effective way to go about repopulation. Then there are the jackasses, much like pitbull owning jackass, that think its just cool to have a big ass wolf on a big ass chain...nothing cool about that IMO. Truly dedicated, and decent folk are few and far between, and one of the most irresponsible acts that a dog owner can do IMO is to purchase a wolf hybrid pup...

I agree that she is beautiful. Wolves are beautiful creatures to be admired from afar...

wow, wolves are so beautiful. Ever since I was a little girl I have been obsessed with them. I still remember my mom donated money to a Rescue center, and the sent me pictures of my "adopted" wolf, Lakota. I agree people shouldn't buy/breed hybrids. I know someone that has a Pit/wolf mix its beautiful. Looks like a pittie, but way too big, and pretty green wolf eyes.

Steve, are you talking about one of Mike's hybrids? The one that looks like a Malamute? He usually brings about 3 with him, but his are all wolfdog mixes.

She is absolutely GORGEOUS! I love wolves, they are my favorite animals! There is a big sanctuary by my parents house that rescues and rehabilitates to study wolves and wolf hybrids that stupid people tried to own at one time, that I volunteered at for a bit in high school. Such wonderful animals!

Awesome creature.
She may be tame but those eyes look very wild to me.

Sorry guys, these are the only pics I took of her, I was running a booth at the Expo, so I didn't have enough time to hang out, but this is the only other one I have.

No idea, we saw a guy walking what looked like a grey wolf or hybrid, not like a Malamute, back in from the rear outside doors into the expo while we were watching the dock diving.

What a gorgeous creature! Thanks for sharing!

I am on the Western Slope of Colorado and where we go hiking / mountain biking we sometimes encounter a coyote hybrid (not sure if its the same one every time). She / he will "follow" us, parallel at a distance and sometimes bark this strange noise. The cooperative extension folks think some coyotes interbred with stray dogs. It's sad.
