Do you get your flu vaccine every year (or ever)? Why or why not? I do not get vaccinated. I honestly do not see any difference in the people who get the vaccine and the people who do not. Actually, I have seen the people get vaccinated get sicker that the people who have not been. Now, obviously that's no scientific research or anything, just my own personal experience. I moved and changed jobs this year. The doctor whom I work for gets his staff the flu vaccine every year. I was the only one to decline. He was sooooo pissed. He got into a little baby fit about how if I get sick I should pay him money and not get sick pay (which I don't until I've been there for a year anyway). I, of course, told him to get over himself. I've never had a flu shot and I certainly don't intend to start getting them now. Well, everyone else that I work with has gotten sick. Some of the REALLY sick. It just keeps getting passed from person to person and they all call off work for a day or two. Well, who's the only one who hasn't been sick and calling off work? ME! I like to rub it in the doctor's face. I've gotten a touch of what everyone else has had, but I haven't had anything near as bad as what they've had. Does that have anything to do with the vaccine? I don't know, but I can't help but think it's a bit of a coincident. Now, I never really got sick before. Then in December of 2003 I had my appendix removed and got sick all the time after that. My immune system never really recovered I seemed to get the flu or a head cold all the time for years. This year I began taking a new nutritional supplement and I believe that has brought me back to par, boosting my immune system. But again, I don't really know that. It may just be coincidental. But, even when I was getting sick, I had no desire to vaccinate myself. I haven't seen enough evidence that the vaccine actually keeps people from getting the flu, so I'll continue to decline.

I used to get the flu shot but no more. I found that when I got the shot, I got a cold once a month. So, no more shot for me.

| NO WAY! NO shots ehre...I refuse to get them, and the people at your job are the reason why..........I personally think there is something a little more to it, than here get a shot and (you're not supposed to get sick) GET SICK...no thanks...I thankfully hae never had the flu, but I also hardly ever get sick period.....I hate germs, and I feel that the BEST way to not get sick is to be CLEAN/SANITARY and vitamin C never hurt anyone! I think that people get that the flu shot are going to be the ones that end up being part of the PANDEEMIC EENFLUEENZA....ROTFLMFAO! HA HA AH AHA HA HHAAHAH ...OH YA! That will hit this country sooner or later! I mean I could not tell you when as it has not been created or merged yet....ROTFLMAO...@ that too! __________________ I never put anyone through hell! | No... no shots here. The first couple years we got harassed by the children's hospital about getting them until we told them enough was enough and put it on our charts that NO ONE is to bring up shots again and if we decide to do it, we will do it. Period. Same deal. I know a ton of people who had the shot that keep getting sick. I can't even remember the last time I had the flu so we must be about due! lol I think once when Daemon was four he got a fever and that was the only time he ever got sick, minus us getting food poisoning from KFC once! lol My mum got really sick from the flu shot this year. She is 70 so I don't know if it's her age, or the shot itself. We eat very healthy, try to live as stress free as possible, get lots of sleep, etc...Raven's got CF and she's never gotten any kind of cold or flu. Once she did get a lung infection but that was from refluxing and aspirating it. Everything else she's ever had she caught in hospital! A staff infection in her central lines, pseudomonas twice, oh ya... and kennel cough which she didn't get in hospital. No flu. Neither of them are in school though so that probably makes a big difference. __________________ I've closed my circle. Have you? |

I don't get the flu vaccine. I'm a firm believer in "what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger" and since I have a relatively healthy immune system, I'm not in danger of the flu killing me (IMO). I had my spleen removed about 10 yrs ago & they told me at that time that my immune system was weekened (the spleen is part of the lymphatic system) & I would always need to get flu & pneumonia vaccines. Well, I think I got one pneumonia vacc & 1 or 2 flu vaccs & I got the worst case of the flu ever one of those years I got the vaccine. Since then, no more vaccs for me & even when I have caught something, it's not that bad. I do see a homeopath now for most health concerns, but the theory of homeopathy is to "encourage" your own immune system to heal your own body, so I don't see that as conflicting.

I've never had one and *knock on wood* haven't had the flu in years. My hub used to get one every year on Doctor's orders...got sick almost every year...stopped getting them, hasn't been sick in three years.

I don't get one either. I haven't had the flu in ages and I am afraid that I could ruin that part of my immunity by getting a shot. My employer offers them free as well. Many many people get them, but so many of those people get the flu - I honestly don't think it makes any difference. The particular strains that go into the flu virus are planned so far ahead of time, so that it can be produced in time. By the time the actual flu season starts, the strains of flu that people are actually coming down with can differ from what is in the vaccine anyways.

I am required to get one, as much as I try not too....just like I was required to get a bunch of other horrible shots.....i have a horrible fear of them and the military requires them...If it were up to me, I would receive no vaccines.....strangely enough, though, I'm fine getting tattoos, but I'm terrified of other needles....

Nope, because I know more people who got the flu shot and got the flu, then those who don't get the flu shot and get the flu. I just think it's another money maker.

I don't believe in the flu vaccine. I truly believe that these flu vaccines will soon result in a super flu that will annihilate most of the population, especially those that have been getting the vaccines because they have not built a natural immunity to the viruses.
