Question Licking a dog statue???

so niobie and dozer which are both 14 weeks old, have just begun a weird thing.. there is a porcelain statue of a pug in our house, its life size i guess and it's in the sitting position.. anyways, they have this habit now of licking the statue's chest, as if they are trying to feed from a mother???? thats what im assuming they are doing. but i dont understand why they wold do this now all of a sudden especially being around 14 weeks where they normally wouldnt still be feeding from their mother.. they are always around my 3 year old female lab at my parents when i bring them over there, and they never thry that with her, which boggles my mind a little.

licking doesnt mean they are trying to nurse, it could just mean they are licking the statue as it tastes good... one of my dogs licks the couch, walls, floor, some stuffed animals, some statues i have here.. its no biggie unless he tries to then eat the items he is licking.

That's because your dog is a weirdo (but I love them because of it).

Well I doubt it's due to them trying to imitate nursing again. It is more likely that they can taste the paint. With all the warnings and recalls coming now days about toys with lead paint on them from China I wouldn't doubt, or at least would be suspicious of the paint on that statue also, no matter what the reason is they are licking it. Stop them every time you see them licking on it and scold them for it.
