Default Looked at a Staffy tonight

I just have to post this...(mods if I am breaking a rule please let me know) I just wanted to share my experience in meeting this dog tonight

My friend found a full Staffy on Craig's list who is ball crazy (his write up is at the end of the post). Why a new home i you ask? Baby coming.....The woman working to find him a home is doing a favor for the friend.

I forwarded the find to my flyball captain to see if she knew anyone look for a staffy flyball dog (they really excel at the sport). A team in Vegas will foster him and start him in flyball training as long as he wasn't an @ss to other dogs. His foster home has another Staffie (my very favorite dog to watch run), and an old BC

Make long story short, she and I went to meet Oscar tonight.
My heart is aching b/c I want this dog SO bad. I am so in love. He is going to burn up the lane. I really want a second flyball dog. But I can't. And that really hurts my heart. It would push me mentally over the edge and take time away from the other 3 I have. Plus it would put me over the limit.. And I can't really afford a 4th dog. Plus with Maddie being so DA, where would I keep Oscar?(Can you tell I am trying to tell my brain why I should NOT keep Oscar?) He has every right to a home that could give him more time.
He was giving kisses like crazy. He is tug and tennis ball nuts! He is pure muscle and so compact! Just a really good looking dog.

I brought Zoe and he was very good with her. My friend brought her intact male and Oscar back down when he was starting to stir the pot.

The owners want him gone like yesterday...We told her we need to contact the foster and give them the go ahead. She is worried they won't hold him for another week. I told her worse comes to worse, one of us will just keep him at the house until transport is arranged.

Ok..Sorry long post. But I just needed to get it out of my system.

2yr old Purebred Staffy Bull Terrier needs good home. Oscar resembles a pibtull, just in miniature! He weighs about 35lbs, most of which is just muscle. Oscar is neutered, current on vaccinations, housebroken and cratetrained. He does fine with other dogs and has been living with a declawed cat with no issues. Oscar really is just a love. He is eager to please and would do anything for a tennis ball. Oscar would do great with older children that could play with him. He is an inside dog and we want him to stay an inside dog. Please let me know if you are interested.

I know what you mean - I've been feeling the same way lately & every cute little female pit bull I see around makes me want one soooo bad. But it is simply not the right time & I would not be doing right by the dogs if I got another right now.

I love Staffy's so much! They are so cute! It does suck when you just can't take another one and you want it so badly. But I'm sure the little one will find a great flyball home.

that is very true, and a good (atleast in line with my own) perspective. There was a female SBT that was the featured adoption that I thought hard (although I didnt contact anyone) about taking a while back. Just wouldn't be the right timing so...can't do it.

or maybe try to find a friend or someone to foster him since he is so urgent?

Good news! As soon as we hear back for the foster, Oscar is officially on his way to Vegas! The current owners will hold onto him until Tuesday. We are picking him up on Wednesday morning and he will stay with our flyball captain. We will transport him to Cedar City on Friday. From there he will go to the flyball team in Vegas who will foster him and start his flyball training. That way he can be adopted into a flyball home. I can't wait to see him burning up the lanes.

Thanks for listening everyone and for your feedback. SO glad I am not alone.

Man it's so hard to let him go...

Oscar will be in Vegas on Saturday!
I can't go on the drive down for transport (work issue and storm coming).
Please keep paws crossed he has a safe trip and delivery.

"Oscar, God Speed. May St Francis keep you safe from harm and keep you protected on your journey to your new life. Hope to see you burning up the flyball lanes!"

well, looks like OScar is on his way back to us. I have to go get him Monday.
He had some inappropriate behavior with humans. The woman we got him from is going to take him back...
It hurts and I feel really really bad....
I am trying to look for the reason the lesson in this for me...Guess once the emotion passes I might find it

DONT feel bad... what are the issues he is having? is it possible he had strict rules in the foster home, and now with the new adopter she let him get away with murder??

the people that took him know staffy's really well. They were uncomfortable with the situation and to place him would be a liability...

It is sad that things did not work out for him. I know we had several people pulling for him. Oscar's foster in Las Vegas and I talked yesterday as Oscar was going to be coming to my house to live w/Twiztid and our pack...broke my heart but I do understand the breed and human aggression is not something I will deal with.

The foster Mom told me he went from being her favorite dog in the house to the least favorite in a matter of seconds. She feared putting her hands in his kennel at one point, and he reacted to a team member in the same way. Knowing her knowledge of the breed, she bred my staffy, I was totally behind her on her options for him.

My fear now is what is this lady who placed him in the first place going to do w/him? This people aggression could have been from all of the anxiety of being transported however, with instability like this how do you safely rehome him?

I guess she is going to keep him as a forever dog. She has her brother's dogs and they are going to Alaska this weekend. That is one thing that worried us (if she tried again to re-home him)...We did not want the responsibility of knowing what happened and her trying to place him in another home. If it came to that, we, my flyball captain and I, would have to make a decision.

It was a rough night Monday when I got the call from my flyball captain. But it's better to be found out now, rather than after something happened.

Sorry Sassy it did not work out for you or your team member. I am so so so sorry. I wish i would of know prior to transporting him
