Smile Meet Leo - OurPack's MV Dog

Our rescue, Ourpack.org was lucky enough to get one of the Vick dogs. His name is now Leo and he has been work but so worth it. Leo has been certified as a therapy dog. Here is the link to his story on our web site

That's awesome! A piece was done on the news last night about the 3 that came to Atlanta. 2 have been adopted and the third will be available in 3 months, once they deal with some health and training issues.
Good job!

that is awesome, i just wish none of these rescues were announcing which dogs were the vick dogs... why cant the dogs just be placed up for adoption without their history of being a vick dog known?

I agree on both counts. I do think it's nice that some of those dogs are being given a 2nd chance.

However, by announcing constantly that "I have a Vick dog" does no one any service and I wonder if the dog they pulled from it's kennel to euthanize it so they could give that kennel space to a "Vick dog" instead thinks it's right.

This crap went on with "Katrina dogs" all across the country. And everyone suffered b/c of it, but none more than all the happy go-lucky dogs that were pulled from the front lines of adoption to be killed so a "Katrina dog" could have it's spot.

I do understand the misgivings people have about announcing that this is a "vick" dog. If I could add another aspect of identifying them in this way. If people do not know anything about pit bulls first hand, they are aware of the Michael Vick story. When they see a dog that they KNOW was either fought or being prepped for fighting and see them well behaved and very people focused (which we know is their true standard) if allows them to open their eyes and look at them in a positive way. Already we have had people say just that who met Leo before knowing his story. Believe me, we are not getting rich off of this dog and he isn't taking a foster home away from another dog. But thank you all for your positive thoughts! We all appreciate it!

What a great ending to a bad beginning for Leo. I think he is very handsome to boot. I love his eyes. It's a good thing you guys have done for him.

Gosh I really admire you. You are doing what I hope to do with Bridget. I want so badly to train and certify her as a therapy dog. I'm so glad Leo came to you. Go Leo go.........
