Default What to do with a toe sore?

Trouble has a sore on his toe. Its the right leg and the far inside toe nail is rubbing on the side of the second toe from the inside causing a blister sore looking think. It almost looks like a art and for once he is showng pain to the touch. I dont know how long it has been there but i just noticed it for the first time. I think this finally explains his mysterious pimp walk.

So, what can i do to fix it and prevent it from happening again?

Is the toenail growing inward at an angle? If it is, you're going to have to take him to the vet and have the vet quick the nail, but in the meanwhile, take some lambswool (or even heavy cotton) and stick it betwen the toes and vetwrap the two toes loosely to alleviate the pressure.

Did he break that toe? That's usually the cause of a funky growth, when the nailbed gets damaged.

He has never broken a toe that i know of. No, its not growing inward at all, in fact its pretty straight but i guess you could say hes had really "tight" toes meaning they stay close together all the time. I think this is whats causing it. Between the toes is red, i dont know if it is from him messing with it(which i have not seen) or if it is infected.

Ill pick up some vet wrap tomorrow. And im also looking for a new vet so i didnt really wanna take him just yet. I feel like whenever i take him in for something, they find something wrong with him and charge me for something. I paid a $200 new member fee and i pay like $30 monthly and they still find a way to charge me for something every single time. I never leave there under $60 bucks. Wether they are screwing me or not, i just dont want that feeling with our vet. So im looking for some bully breed specalists in houston but am having no luck.

Will he stand with his paw in a bucket or bowl of warm water to soak it? Divina ripped one of her nails off once and it was gruesome; blood squirting out of her toe with every heart beat! Well after a lots of wrapping and two rounds of antibiotics, she still had a bad infection going and we were discussing removing the toe because the infection was actually getting worse and the toe was swelling. So I decided to start soaking her paw and it healed up and she got to keep that toe.

So, if he'll let you soak that paw for 10 - 15 minutes at least once a day, it will at least help reduce infection, until you can get him to the vet. Put some warm water in a bucket or bowl and add some epsom salts (you can get them at just about any pharmacy). Also, if you can get some tea tree oil and put a drop on the sore after you soak it that will also help. Good luck.

Ok, so i woke up yesterday morning and the sore was the same size, but now the toe was swolen on the side with the sore and the toes was trice the size it should have been. So we went to the vet. He now weights 40lbs, just to throw that in there. Anyway, while on the table he squirmed around when we were n the little room by ourselves, the sore busted open and was gushing blood everywhere. By the time the vet came in blood was everywhere, all over the table and walls, me, the computer. It was nasty. So they cleaned him up, inspected it, and said it looked like a Hepa-something. Long word, and they said it was fairly common in dogs his age, which is now 7 months. They told me that they usually go away on their own in a couple of months, if they dont it could be something else.
I dunno, they didnt seem to confident. So they put tripple antibiotic on it and wrapped it. Hes taking Rimadyl trice a day and cefpodoxime Proxetil 100mg once a day. He is scheduled to go back tuesday so they can have another look.
He looks so miserable cause he wants to go out and play but its been raining nonstop for a few days and the ground will get his wrap all wet. I put a ziplock and a rubberband for potty breaks.
