Default Breathing Problems.......

Hi, I Am Karen And I Introduced Myself And Sam Allready. Sam Is 4 1/2 And Is Deaf. He Was Hit By A Car Several Years Ago And The Vet Said He Did Not Know If His Deafness Is A Result Of That Or He Was Born Deaf. His Original Owner Did Not Want Him Back And A Girl That My Son Greg Knew Called And Asked Him To Take Him. He Was Diagnosed With Heartworms A Couple Of Years Ago And Went Untreated. When Greg Decided And Could Afford To Treat Him He Took Him In To Be Tested Again. The Test Came Back Negative. The Vet Says He Stayed Healthy Enough That The Heartworns Lived Their Life Span And Died. Problem Is Something Is Wrong With Sam. He Has On And Off Labored Breathing, He Huffs Like, He Is Hyperventilating, Especially When He Gets To Active Or Excited. He Gags Like He Has Something In His Throat, Sometimes He Throws Up And Sometimes Its Just A Clear Thick Stuff. When He Sleeps At Night His Breathing Is Loud Short Breaths, This Is Not All The Time But Is Increasing More Regularly. He Has Seen 3 Different Vets. They Checked For Hookworms, Did Chest X-rays, Did Blood Work And Have Not Come Up With Anything. The Latest Vet 5 Days Ago Put Him On Simplecef 200 For His Glands Under His Neck Were Swollen. She Said He Might Have A Little Gingivitis And Could Be Causing An Infection. The Swollen Glands Are Gone But Nothing Else Has Changed. He Also Since Taking This Medicine Is Always Licking And Knawing At His Bottom Which Is Now Very Red. Hes Going Back To Her Tommorow Morning But I Do Not Think They Know What To Do. Could The Heart Worm Test Be Wrong? My Son Wants That Rechecked. Has Anyone Heard Of Such Symptoms? Anyone With Any Ideas It Will Be Greatly Appreciated. I Feel So Bad For Sam And We Want Him To Get The Medical Help He Needs. Thanks A Lot! Karen

I agree! I have never ever ever heard of heartworms going away on their own. It doesn't make a bit of sense (I'm a vet tech btw).

Wow, I've also never heard of that. Definitely run a heartworm test.
