It's probably Nutro Natural Choice Ultra.

Nutro is better than Puppy Chow. But, it's expensive for what it is, IMO. There are far better foods you can choose from like Innova or California Natural, or Canidea...

I would stay away from anything made by Diamond. There have been many recalls (outside of the major dog food recall of 07) and there's currently a massive lawsuit against them.

Although it's not my personal favorite, I will be honest in that my friend has her working & show Australian Shepherds on the food and they look amazing!

I would stray as far away from ANY Diamond product as possible, they have had too many recalls on too many foods of theirs...it will only be a matter of time, before its the one you feed.......

for the price....Canidae is not so shabby...but some dogs dont do so well on it either...if you are only feeding one dog...I say Innova!

I second the vote for Innova or Canidae.

I like canidae, or solid gold wolfking puppy http://www.solidgoldhealth.com/produ...id=61&code=180
or the following natural balance foods; http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/dog...as/SPFish.html , http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/dog...as/VenDog.html ,
http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/dogformulas/PandD.html . They are all single source protein and have the omega fatty acids for good health and beautiful coats.

Did not know that, I actually stopped feeding that at about 9 month old then went to Innova then switch (and still on) Natures Variety. She does very well on NV but I had no problems on Diamond's Chicken Soup either.

Anyone can work at your local Petsmart or Petco. Most don't have a damn clue but they know to repeat what is taught to them during their training week on the job.

For the unconditional love that Rex is going to give you over the years, the least you can do is feed him some quality kibble.

Ok, so back home, for my civilian job, I groom at a Petsmart. It is one of VERY FEW grooming salons that actually offer benefits and VACATION PAY to their groomers. It depends on who in the store you talk to. The people in the small animals/fish department, have to actually know something before they can work in that department. The groomers, they have to proove they know how to groom or go to grooming school, and most of the groomers I have worked with are pretty knowledgeable about dogs and what should and shouldn't be fed. In fact, at the one I worked at, I don't really think anyone fed their own dog a food available at our store. The trainers as well have to know how to be a dog trainer, one of the trainers there has labradors that she shows and feeds raw, the other one shows in conformation, agility, schutzhund, and obeidiance GSDs, and she also feeds raw. However, the cashiers, stockers, and bather/brushers its just a job. For Petsmart, at least when my last day was before I went on leave, their highest quality food would be the Ultra or Blue Buffalo. Neither of which I am impressed with.

Well I apologize if I had insulted you. You are right, it depends on who you talk to. As for groomers, I think it takes more than your average Joe. But my comments were towards the sales reps.

My last encounter with a sales rep at Petsmart in regards to Bettas was that I only had to feed the fish once per month and it would live! I use to breed them as a hobby and I don't recall any of them going that long without food!

Maybe the store manager that ran the store you worked at held his employees to a higher standard.

I know the whole dog journal said Ultra was fairly good you can find it on sale or on the petsmart petperks (no cost to join) alot of times, and Blue is also rated well in the same journal.
My girl was eating it and she did really well on it, it has cranberry in it and I know once I put her on it, she had her crystals stay clear, upon her monthly testing. So I am a fan of it, plus her normal GSD coat got much softer while on it. Some ppl can't afford Innova, or some of the higher brands, so yes the best foods IMHO are Ultra, Blue, Royal Canin, and Natures Recipe (in that order usually)at Petsmart, plus it's easier to get to sometimes instead of getting to a special feedstore.
Most associates are suppose to tell you Authority, that's petsmarts brand, if you were talked to by someone that worked for petsmart and they said it's the best they had in the store, then they were not leading you astray. Authority is better than Puppy chow or pedigree.
Some ppl working at Pmart are very well trained and care alot about your pet, others think it's just a job get their money and go, it depends on who you talk to..like was said previously.
