I wouldn't!!!!! my first thought would be theirs a lot of bones in there that could hurt him/her. __________________ What man does not know man fears,And what man fears man destroys “gameness” Gameness is the “desire to continue on and/or complete a task despite pain and discomfort.”

Well i was wondering if they were the same as feeding raw with bones. The bones will crunch up when raw but when cooked they will splinter.

You can feed raw fish in smaller doses, too much fish can lead to a vitamin deficiency...I think one of the b-vitamins...and raw salmon has a parasite than can be dangerous to dogs...you can look it up online... the other thing is where are you getting the fish? If you fish in a river or lake that might be polluted you have to use common sense and feed in small amounts like they recommend for people. My dogs love smelts, trout, perch, and even an occasional flopping around sunfish...but they get fish only occasionally (deja-vu) __________________ Lisa I urge you all today, especially today during these times of chaos and war, to love yourself without reservations and to love each other without restraint. Unless you are into leather, and then, by all means, use restraints....Margaret Cho

As long as your dog undertands that he he needs to chew the bones and crush them into mush (ie...he's eaten bones and raw before) I see no issue with throwing him the fish in the scenario you gave above...just dont over do it.

I have fed my dogs raw trout but from Farm Raised USA. One loved the raw fish, and the other wouldn't touch it. I think raw fish is great but my fear is from open waters. If my dh caught them I wouldn't feed due to disease in the unknown water. Buit I am a bit neurotic that way

All fresh meat - fish, game, etc. - should be frozen solid for some time (I think 3 weeks is generally safe) to kill off any parasites that may be in the animal. Pacific NW salmonoids (salmon, trout) are the ones that have a parasite that can be deadly to dogs, but again, if frozen solid the parasites will be killed off. I've been feeding raw for about a year now, & I know I've come across this info many times in my research. I don't have a link off-hand, but if you want one I can probably find it. HTH ![]()
