 My day yesterday.... So yesterday was one of the craziest days at the shelter I have ever worked.... VPD (Vancouver Police Department) served a Felony Warrant on a home yesterday and when they went in the home they found: 26 cats 2 dogs One Squirril and of course........ a Bearded Dragon They of course called AC because not only were they WAY over the legal limit on animals, but they were in horrible conditions and the owners were not going to be getting out of jail for a LONG time. AC called us at about 5pm last nite (we close at 6) to give us the heads up and from that moment on it was maddness trying to get everything ready. Being that we have an open door policy for all of Clark and Skamania counties, we can get anywhere from 20-80 animals a DAY and we are constantly full. We have a contract with AC that we are their holding facility so if they say "jump" we have to "jump" so when they called and said "make room"... we of course did. Myself and three other employees were there until 10pm last nite processing all the animals. We have to get them all charted, log age, sex, weight, temp, overall appearance then vacc them, deworm them, flea treatment, get them set up in cages and then of course enter it all in the computer, get neckbands and cage cards made and files created..... Longest day EVER! And of course the Beardie was in a disgusting cage with NO heat, filled with old feces, moldy food, cat hair and cigarette butts. He came home with me.....
