Hubby made it to Manhattan.

The flight was 2 hours late getting out, but he made it.

Thanks to everyone who suggested inexpensive hotels, he found a decent one and is happy with the accommodations.

Since having been in the hospital and having been diagnosed with MS in May/June of this year, this is the very first time that I am on my own.

It's a little scary, if I am honest.

I am totally ambulatory, but with MS, ya never know ...

But he deserved a break, and a visit with his sister and niece (who flew to NYC from Europe for Christmas - it is a fashionable thing to do for the well-to-do).

Just praying that none of the critters get sick; I am not strong enough to handle any of the dogs on my own.

Don't mean to sound whiny, just helps to put this out there.

Hubby will be back on Christmas Day, and I am sure we will all be glad to see him.

That's very kind of you, let's keep all fingers and paws crossed that nothing happens.

And Trusty looks forward to his present.

So far, so good.

I managed to get to and from the office, feed the dogs when I got home.

Behavior wise (as far as the dogs are concerned), there are some slight changes:

Esperanza (mostly Rottn) was clearly waiting for hubby to come in behind me.

She kept running to the gate in the backyard (note that all three are indoors when we are not home); that's how we usually come in.

Once back inside, she kept looking at the backdoor, ears up, clearly listening for sounds of her beloved male human.

Madeleine decided to hop on hubby's TV chair - she has never done this before. She curled up there to snooze.

Trusty, so far, seems unphased ...

Yep, it's us touchy females that go off the deep end real quick

DH reported that Madeleine got bent out of shape when he packed this morning; sorry, kiddo, you can't come along this time!

LOL, I am actually really fine with it; I LOVE the holidays, so the spirit is with me, and I am so looking forward to baking cookies (both for us and the dogs), shopping (I'll be styling with my new deep purple cane ), spending all kinds of time here .

And, he really, really deserves it - he has been such a trooper this year.

Plus, a man who learns to sleep with a dog in bed (Madeleine is our bed bug) and who cooked for the dogs when I was in the hospital, deserves a little trip

We all had a good night's rest.

Talked to DH who was heading to Bloomie's with his niece to do some shopping (did manage to bit my tongue about checking their pet department ).

Now working on getting the courage to go to the bank.

Have gotten spoiled with DH always around to hang on to (when I have to).

Definite loss of confidence - in terms of physically moving around.

That's something I need to work on.

My new dark purple cane will be my new best friend

Have never been out in public with it; wish me luck!

Bloomingdales has a pet section? We dont have that store here!

oooh I have an idea! Any way you can get Trusty certified as a companion/helper dog so he can go WITH you and the nifty purple cane?
