Default A strange scenerio for Christmas

So you take pooch to get his picture taken with Santa. Your pooch is on Santas lap. Santa puts his arm around your pooch and your pooch bites him!

Santa doesnt want an accident report filed but the store he is working for insist. When everthing comes out in the open, you find out that this Santa is a known sex ofender of children and has only been out of prison for 6 months and shouldnt be doing that job.

So, what happens to your dog? Are you upset with the dog or was the dog a good judge of character? Would you put the dog down? Would you punish the dog?

It's not my dog's job to be a judge of character. And honestly, if my dog bit any person, including a freaky Santa, out of the blue for no reason, bye bye dog.

O.K...you've got a couple holes in your scenario....
#1...Santa for kids would definitely be screened nowadays....AND, they don't allow pets anywhere I've seen "Kid" Santa's.... Health Dept. rules and all that.....

#2 Santa's for Doggies are usually people from Radio stations doing it for a cause in your area...and usually do it at local Pet Stores...at least this is how it is in my experience....

I've taken my 3 to see "Santa" before....Maisy was scared shitless one time and when you're trying to get 3 dogs posed around Santa it's hard.
He had the 2 Jacks on his lap, and the other person was trying to get Gretchen to sit by Santa's side....well...Maisy got freaked and squirmed out of Santa's grasp and knocked his beard/Hat combo off......
It was actually quite funny....

If I knew one of my dogs was prone to biting or even a fear biter I wouldn't take them in the first place....that's a highly stressful situation...first off because of the long line with a lot of dogs in one place and then of course being put into a strangers lap......

If one of my dogs bit Santa I would certainly offer to pay his medical bills.
I wouldn't euthanize my dog because it bit Santa.

What if your dog bit a kid wearing a red jacket? What's the difference? A bite is a bite. And dogs that bite once ARE going to do it again. Why? Because in their mind it accomplished what they wanted it to and they now understand that it's a method for them to get their own way.

You know what....I was asked a question and I answered it giving my opinion....
If I thought my dog was a biter I wouldn't have it in that position in the first place.....

I had a dog that bit twice....and in neither incident did she do it because she was "getting her own way" in was in defense of someone.
She lived a good life, till almost 15yr. of age.

I respect that it's your opinion. I just asked a different question that is still somewhat related.

However, I'm sorry for offending you.

Now, JC never met Santa Claus. I don't know if he would freak out or not. But, if JC did meet the man and freaked and tried to bite him, I would not euthanize my dog, but that's me. My dog did try to bite someone only once and the person deserved it and I was hoping that JC would rip his finger right off. The person was hovering over me and JC was on my lap. JC got very protective. He was a low life scum that brought a 3 week old pit bull to my friends house and was feeding the dog canned Alpo. I almost stole that dog and took it home with me.

But let me stress that just because I would not euthanize, I don't hold it against anyone with a different view than mine.

I took Champ to have his picture made with Santa at Petco this year. He, as always, was very well behaved. Two pugs passing by even licked him in the face and he just looked at them. Santa was afraid of Champ. I'm sure it was because Champ is a "pit bull". Santa told me that the last one that came in there bit him. I don't know if he meant the last bulldog or just the last dog in general. Any how, I told Santa that I would not bring a dog that bites and assured him that Champ was very friendly. I told him to just take Champ by the collar and smile.

Here is the picture.

I agree. Even though Santa is a jerk and probably deserves that bite. I couldn't keep a manbiting APBT alive...Honestly if it were a different breed, I would think whether or not to, depending on the breed's characteristics.
