| Tonight on the way home, I saw a coyote about a mile up the road. Ive seen it around my house before. Do you think a coyote will interact with a dog it's size or bigger? Do you think one would be dumb enough to get into a pit bulls food bowl? |

| They are getting worse around here too. Some counties have put a bounty on them. I would be careful especially if there's a bitch in heat... they'd certainly be attracted to that!! As or the food, I dunno.. I feel for the one that trieto snatch some food from Boomer's bowl. __________________ ~DEAD GAME~ The fighter is to be always single-minded with one object in view: to fight, looking neither backward nor sideways. | Only bitch I have not neutered is the one I just got and looks like she wont be staying. Ive seen a lot more coyotes and wild dogs around here recently. My parents had a cat that came up missing. I think it was the coyote or the big Owl that Click was barking at. Ive heard they will attack a big dog in packs and Ive also heard they are afraid of dogs. I guess it probably depends on how hungry they are. The ones I see around here arent very big. They almost look like a big fox. |

| There are quite a few around here. I can hear them howling in the summer. Makes my hair stand up. __________________ Got Cats? Slink on over to our Feline Forum! Game-Dog.com ~ Preserving The APBT Interested in the Molosser breeds? Check out our Mastiff Forum! |

| Coyotes are generally afraid to come too close to us.... I don't think a big dog would be at risk..but I do think small dogs/cats would be... We are experiencing more coyotes coming in close and the ones we see are the same as yours (large fox) NYC had one or two in Central Park not too long ago.... Man is displacing animals from their natural habitat....they have nowhere else to go.....it'll come back to bite us in the ass one of these days... ![]() __________________ ![]() Maisy, Sassafrass, Gretchen Got a litter box ? | A normal, healthy coyote will stay away from you, your house, and even your dogs. I've even seen coyotes run from pursuing dogs. However, they can be nasty so it's best to keep all outside food picked up and keep your dogs properly restrained. Personally, I love coyotes and I like to hear them howl late at night. |

![]() We've had a couple incidents of possible coyotes killing small dogs, let out alone at night by their owners... __________________ ![]() Maisy, Sassafrass, Gretchen Got a litter box ? Join us at our brand new Feline Forum |

Where I live they are considered varmints and are shot on sight if they come onto your property or whatever, so I'd tell you to take that sucker out but I don't know what the laws on that are in your area. ![]() |

| I run into coyotes at least once a week, during the summer it was almost everyday, when I am running with the dogs. They are all over here in southern CA. While my wife's sister did have her dogs (little white dogs, and they survived) attacked by a coyote, but they generally try to give you your space. I have had a few encounters on trails where we come head to head and they have always given us a wide berth to pass or scurry quickly away. They are inquisitve and will watch you from a distance. I would worry about a dog in heat more then a dog with its food bowl. Coyotes will attack fifi but there are few attacks on medium or large dogs, if there is, there is more to the story. I worry more about a mtn. lions, but I have never come across one on a trail. Interesting fact: the coyote is the only animal in north america that has increased its' range since the intorduction of europeans. |

| At my old house they would come right up in the yard but then again we had a den in the woods behind our house. I do not know if they would attack a dog or go for a food dish but I just know that the ones around my place were not scared of us. |

| i know where my Aunt lived in California. Coyotes were coming down out of the Mts, and killing dogs. So, I'd keep an eye out, and a shotgun ready. |
