Default She cries at night(ideas?)

Sabi isnt crate trained. When I put her in a crate, she sounds like a moose in heat. I shut the door in her room and turned the fan on high in mine to block the noise. What have you done. OH I gave her a bone also but it didnt help.

I do the following:

1) put the kennel/crate next to the other dogs' kennels/crates
2) put the kennel/crate in a room far, far away from mine, close both doors, turn on my fan, and have a good night's sleep.

Sound cruel? Well try living your life despising your own dog because he/she has you so trained you get absolutely NO sleep at night.

You may try putting a t-shirt that you've worn in her crate with her, so she can smell you there with her. Sometimes that helps, sometimes it doesn't. Can't hurt to try.

Do you put her in her crate for any other reason? I like to recommend that people feed their dogs in their crates (with the door open), this way the crate means rewards not punishment. I know you said you've left a bone in there with her, but have you tried a stuffed frozen kong? Usually works like a charm.

The shirt is a great idea. I do feed her with the door open. She will also be in the crate while we are at work. I have too many inside to let them run the house while we are gone. Once I get place Dillan, I may let her run the room by herself. She is the calmest dog here by far and possibly the calmest dog I have ever had here. The only time she complains is when she is in the crate.

We just had our first night with Max last night, and it sounds like we had about the same soundtrack as yours Alan.

Anything you find successful, I'd be interested in hearing.

Mine also eat in their crates as well as get their [raw] bones in their crates. But absolutely NO open doors here! We are a multi-dog household and don't want or need the fights.
