Default Pooping in the crate

Well my pup is about 10 weeks old and at first he wouldn't poop in his crate he would whine hella loud and then i would put him on the paper and he'll go......Now one night i didn't here his whine, so he pooped on the bed in the crate. I cleaned the bed as well as i could. But now he only poops in the crate. I fed him yesterday and then we played for about 30 min. (usually he poops within 10 - 15 min. after feeding) no poop. So i stood there by him while he was on the paper......nothing.....then he just sat there. so i rigged his leash so that he could stay on the paper at about 10 pm. 5 min later he goes to sleep lol......so at about 11:30 pm i put him in the crate and go take a shower, when i got bak to make sure he didn't do it again..........Long and behold 2 beautiful treats waiting for me to clean.......I need to know what is wrong with the furball????

How big is the crate? If the crate is too big, a pup will poop in the opposite side of where he sleeps. If its a big crate try cutting his space in half, most big crates come with dividers so the crate can grow along with your pooch. Also, its a good idea to take them to piss and poop as soon as they wake up

Furball? That is cute.

Do not use paper to train your pup. Have a routine schedule. About 20 minutes after eating, take him outside. Before you take him you can give him a code word like, "Let's go poopers" or whatever you fancy. When he goes outside praise him like there is no tomorrow. Same goes for after playing and drinking.

The thing that helped me a great deal is catching them in the act. If you happen to catch your dog in the act, do not scold. Immediately take your pup outside so he can finish his business and once again throw a HUGE party for him.

He is only 10 weeks old and will eventually get the hang of it.

Great point! A crate should be big enough for the dog to turn around and that is it. Most dogs will not eliminate where they are sleeping.

As were yours. I honestly got lucky with my male he got the hang of it quicker than any dog Ive ever known. But he did poop in his crate once because I forgot to put the divider in after I cleaned it.

Many people have said their males caught on quicker in the housetraining department versus females.

it's not him it's you.
You didn't say you tried to take him out at 1130 just that you put him in the crate, did you try?
at 10 weeks old he doesn't quite have control of his bowels
if he went in his crate because you didn't let him out he's going to think it's no good to holler she won't let me out so he goes, which he may have done while you were in the shower.
Don't shower unless you know he's gone, maybe you should have showered then, since you left him on his papers from 10 to 1130. he would have only gone on the papers, since he's stuck there, that's why you did it right?
also if he goes and you're not there to praise and treat, he won't know he did the right thing, you can't reprimand after the fact, it doesn't work that way, you must praise within a second or 2 to let him associate the behavior to the praise, or the behavior to the reprimand must be done in the act, so when he starts to squat in the wrong spot, uh-uh and get him to the good area, so you can praise him and treat him for going.
