Default are my babies getting overweight?

My puppies are 11 weeks old and weigh 16lbs and 13.5lbs the female is the bigger of the two ricky is catching up though.

they dont look TOO stocky and their bodies seem to be proportional....but still at this rate by 4 months they may be well over standard.

what is the average weight of pups this age? (and i know there will be variation but i mean a dog that grew up to be the breed standard size)

It sounds like a lot, however no one can judge based on a written description. One must be able to see the pups and know about their genetic make-up to be able to tell you.

I would say you're in the middle of a major growth spurt. It does depend more on genetics though. I'll wait until we see pics to give a final answer, but puppies grow fast, and are very akward at times;

I looked back into my records of my current pup, and he made a huge jump in weight between 10-20 weeks (where you're pups are now). He was at 10.20lbs at 8-9 weeks and 30-35 lbs durin the 5th month! I consider that on the big side but here are pics of how he carried it...

13 weeks (about 15 lbs)

at 4 mos. (about 20-25 lbs)

and at 5 mos.

Over most of that time he looked "skinny" but was heavy as heck IMO

you know a good dog is where you find him. I got to know the people who have the dam she is ABDA reg'd, and the Colby dog they brought up from Florida to do a breeding for working dogs. I don;t know the sires people, but the dams are dirt bags. They like to take the redboy stuff back to Colby blood, but do not reg the dogs with ABDA after they took on other breeds. They sold him and a littermate brother to a wannbe dogman for working purposes, but they wannabe really had no clue. We took him, and found a home for the brother.

Both are growing just fine, and ther's no way I would trade in a great dog! Papers or not.

They don't look overweight to me.

My Jack is 12 weeks now and is just pushing 11 pounds. His sire is 53 pounds and his dam is 43 pounds. My female, Pixie, was about 15 pounds at 12 weeks and she's now 45 pounds at 3 years.

so in other words, all in all, it will equal itself out fat puppy or not

the other pup in the dog house with his behind facing you gives you an idea of why there bellies are large.....he wouldnt even turn around for a picture head stuck in the food bowl.
