Default How diverse is a Pit Bull?

Pit Bulls were originaly bred to be the butchers dog and bring down bulls for slaughter. Later they were turned on each other and became known as the fighting breed. How many different uses can you come up for an APBT? How many of those uses are practical? Do you think an APBT is the most versitle breed there is? If so why and if not, which dog do you think is the most versitle breed?

By far the most versatile dog out there... the only thing I wouldn't think they'd be good at is herd dogs.. I mean.. kinda hard to heard if you want to kill everything with 4 legs and fur.. LOL

Actually some do quite well at herding. It depends on the dog
As a breed in general I agree they are one of the most versatile breeds out there and can and do excel in many many venues. That being said the way some are breeding and discounting drive and workability it is not true for all dogs in the breed but still the majority IMO

The bulldog is without doubt the most versatile dog breed in the world. He can compete in any dog sport and excel, he can be a therapy dog and excel, he can be a narcotic detection dog and excel, he can be a herding, tracking, obedience, weight pull dog and excel, he can be an obedience dog and excel, he is an ace in schutzhund - (something which I dont support) - he is an awesome catchdog and "Boy, can he fight!"

Mostly though, he is one helluva companion and friend that no man should undertake the journey through life without!
