Default Crate recommendations?

My boy has broken 3 metal wire crates so far. He knows what time I leave for work, and if he's not with me, he goes ballistic, he's actually broken them at the soldered points. Hasn't happened in quite a while, but I do worry if I'm away from the house for a long period of time (longer than 6 hrs)

Anyway, someone suggested a vari-kennel type crate with a dial lock. Are these any stronger?

These are my dream crates, btw...

Wish me a big tax refund so I can make it happen!

Is chaining not an option?

I don't believe in chaining my dogs. I don't believe in leaving them outside unattended, period.

#1 because my dogs are pets

#2 because of the liability. A dog safely crated in my home cannot run away, cannot be shot by a pitbull hating neighbor, cannot bite someone that comes into my yard, cannot be attacked by another dog, cannot attack another dog or other animal, and cannot be stolen.

#3 the weather. It gets as cold as 30 and as hot as 115 here. They actually give warnings on the news that it's not safe for your animals to be left outside.

My trainer uses those for his Malinois. They're extremely heavy duty!

LMAO! Sometimes, I think he is! He will just sit there and bash his head against the crate until he gets out, poor guy just wants to be with his mom! So I want to make sure he is in something that he can't injure himself on, no matter how hard he head-butts it.

My dogs are pets mainly as well but they are cntained via chain and it works fine. I live in NC.. we have crazy weather as well.. VERY cold winters and VERY hot summers and they all handle it fine as long as you take the proper steps.. i.e. shade, cedar chips, plenty of water.... as for them being left unattended.. didn't stop yours from killing a rabbit from a previous post did it? Or almost killin a cat...

Not trying to be proud.. just pointing out a need for education of the breed and measures that need to be taken to prevent your dog ending up on the evening news and adding to BSL

You might want to try de-sensitization training or even seperation anxiety meds along with some type of training.

He's in training now. I paid $600 for it, so it better be good! He's actually a lot better than he was, but I still would like a more substantial crate. I'm kind of paranoid now, after all I've been through with him.

I don't think your personal attacks (and yes, that is how I am taking it) are going to help much. But hopefully, it comes from a good place, if that's possible.

It may seem as an attack. But you have to be willing to accept if someone points out a mistake and hopefully you will learn from it. And learn from more experienced owners. We all make mistakes. But we also all own this breed. And in todays world if you make a mistake it affects us all. And alot of icidents that you hear about in the media are from pet bull owners. Or ppl with good intentions that do not know much about the breed. Or respond "well he has never done that before" and is shocked.

See if a welder will make you a crate out of iron. My husband made a super-crate like that for a friend of ours. Or you can buy one out of Petedge, I believe.

Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know about how much that would cost? I'll check out PetEdge, too.

Here ya go

How a dog is contained when the owner can't supervise is a personal choice issue.

Pretty crate! And if I get really bored....those rolling casters will come in handy for putting on a magic show!
