Default How Good is The Dog Whisper

Do you think Ceasar could take a half a dozen grand champion, game bred dogs and throw them into a pack and let them run loose togher supervised without ever having an incident. If a fight broke out, do you think he could control all 6 of them or would he end up with a blood bath?

Actualy, this question isnt so much about Ceaser as it is weather or not this can be done. I just chose him because he is a household name.

i have no idea on that one.. however, i will say i do watch his shows, and while i DONT agree with alot of stuff he does, i DO agree with him when he trains the owners of small dogs that treat the dogs like humans.... alot of his stuff is really good, he gets the owners to stop treating the dogs like people, which is the root of alot of the dogs problems.. there are some things i dont agree with him on. but then again, you can take 3 trainers and they will all agree that neither of them agree with the others trainings...

Dammit Alan, you just had to bring up Cesar, didn't you? (jk)
I hate it when people start bashing him (not that that's happened YET) because he has done so much good for so many dogs and people ...although, I do think some of the stuff he says is ignorant.

Anyway, I'd have to see it to believe it. He'd have to muzzle every single one (with proper leather and/or wire muzzles, not those mesh things) and introduce them one at a time over a period of days, I'd think. Even if they could learn to ignore all the other dogs, to interact as a social animal is asking way too much of an APBT. Should he dare take any of the muzzles off, he'd most definitely end up with a blood bath. For one pit dog to behave in a pack of pets is one thing, to behave in a pack of multiple "pit bulls" including other pit dogs is impossible. I would think even the sight of another dog of similar type would put the dog on edge and from there one wrong move would end in disaster. If anything would happen among un-muzzled bulldogs, Cesar doesn't, as far as I know, have the knowledge of how to properly seperate them ...even a dogman couldn't with that many dogs around. As soon as the dog is parted, it'll grab for something else and the chaos starts all over again.

He may be able to keep them from fighting in the first place. If they were all on down/stays (assuming they had already been properly trained). But if they had already started fighting, it would take a divine intervention to get them to stop.

At least he's trying to something good and possitive from a professional standpoint. Don't they always say on the show to consult with a tranned and qualified profession al? I think when he talks about our breed he's putting out good and useful information not hate and ignorance. An he is doing it on a natioal stage. I don't think with Ceaser's reputation that everyone is just going to just dismise him.

I think Cesar Milan (sp?) is some of these dog's last stop before they get PTS.
So I think any kind of help he can give is beneficial, if it keeps them from being euthanized.

Although I don't think problems can be solved on a 1/2hr. show....
His tactics are almost all common sense.....and they do work when used with correct technique, repetition, and consistency.
Some people think if the dog doesn't get it right out of the gate..they'll never learn and just give up too easily....

I do not think that he works with these dogs for only 30 mins, like shown in the show. It's impossible. Some shows span over months or weeks. Just like how the "Queer eye for the Straight Guy" is over 3 days, not one, but they just don't advertise it.

Do I think he would be able to take 6 GC Game dogs and keep them together?

No. maybe 2-3, but not six. He has a talent, that I wish I had, but no one is that friggin amazing.

annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd no

I actually watch Dog Whisperer for the pure entertainment value it provides me, I love watching how dysfunctional the owners are(notice I didn't say dogs) I also think he is doing a lot to portray the breed in a positive light to the public, which gains him respect in my book...

... now Im by no means perfect, but I watch the show for the same reason. Not only this one, but Divine Canine, Its Me Or the Dog, and Good Dog U (all on animal planet I think). The owners that these shows bail out never cease to amaze me with their ignorance. I guess ignorance is bliss...until he's 100 lbs and chewing holes though the wall, and biting you hard enough to leave bruises.

Well you and I know he doesn't merely work with these dogs for 1/2 hr., but I'm sure there are some nut jobs out there that do think so.....
