Default How soon is to soon?

As you know i will be getting my 5mo old pup in a cpl weeks. My question is...

I want to get her Spayd for numerous reasons. How long should i wait? I dont want to do it to soon to shock her after coming and adjusting to a new place. So i was wondering about what time frame should i get it done? A cpl weeks? Wait a month or so?

Oh yea i also plan on starting her on RAW. i was also thinking to keep her on the NutroMax she's already eating until after she has the surgery done.

What do you all think?

Dogs adjust much faster than we do. Taking good care of her and having lots of close contact during her after care is also a good opportunity for the two of you to bond. You should be perfectly safe spaying her at 6 months =)

it depends on you actually. you can get her spayed at 6 months old, or wait until she is a year.. some folks prefer to wait while some like to get it done asap. my female was done at 6 months, my male at 5 months.

puppies recover quicker from spays then adult dogs do,so that is something to consider as well.

I had my chihuahua done at 5 months. but i brought him home at 8wks. So i knew he was adjusted. I just wasn't sure if a few weeks was enough.

you could always let her get adjusted, and then get her spayed...

yeah you dont want to traumatize her when she just gets to your house as that will be really new compared to where she is now.... i would say have fun with her for a while, and then make the appointment in a month or two.....
