Exclamation My Friend Beth in San Diego Needs Help - Fire Impacted

Dear all:

My friend Beth Gruff runs 'It's the Pits' rescue in San Diego.

She does a wonderful job, and - with her help - I sponsored and placed a Pit girl last year in San Diego, who went to a wonderful home.

We have transported dogs for her (the dogs mentioned in her e-mail were transported by us), and I admire her tenacity.

Beth is a cancer survivor, mother to adorable twin girls and a Pit enthusiast.

Last year, she and her husband purchased a larger property in Poway, CA, in hopes of one day building kennels to accomodate more rescued Pits. Poway was heavily impacted by the fires.

Today, I received this e-mail from her; please read it and visit her site. If you find it in your heart to help her and her rescued Pitties, I know she would appreciate it, and as a Californian, I would thank you from the bottom of my heart as well. Permission to crosspost has been granted.

We are in desperate need of funds. We have 8 dogs that had to be boarded due to the fire evacuations. We didn't know that we could have taken them to shelters for free boarding.

We had already taken them to boarding when we heard of that, however, don't know how comfortable I am at taking rescued dogs to a shelter. At any rate, we have a monster of a bill to pay for the boarding of 8 dogs, some of which cost more due to meds being given.

These dogs were in foster homes and people were ordered out of their homes with no place to go. The cost is $30 a day for 3 of them and $20 a day for the other 5! Plus we had two dogs that needed surgery that ended up costing $1900 for one and $650 for the other! I don't know what we are going to do. The boarding was not something that we planned on and for that matter, neither were the surgeries.

One of the surgeries was one of the Orange doggies that had a quarter size fast growing tumor on his neck that we had to remove immediately. We are having it tested for cancer. Keep you fingers crossed. We were not aware of the tumor and he just showed up with it and of course, we had to help him right away. Any way, we need help. Please route to anyone who might be able to make a small donation. I am VERY sensitive to all the needs of the fire victims so I do NOT want to offend anyone in asking for help for the doggies when people need help. I understand if folks just don't have the capability to help us but anything would be greatly appreciated.

Would we be able to feature a dog from her site on our front page, and include this info?

I am sure that would be fine, as it would only help showcase both her rescue and the immediate need.

Thank you for the suggestion - let me know, if you would like for me to contact her which dog she would like to feature.

I couldn't give much, but I donated a little. I wanted to put a note that I heard about it from MM on this site, but it didn't give me the message box. So anyways, I wish 'It's the Pits' all the best & I'm sending them good thoughts for everyone's safety & happiness!

Thank you, Debo!

Don't worry about any reference to me, it's not about me
