Plastic 55 gal drum, cut a hole on the end. Put something on the ground on both sides to keep it from rolling. Very warm with some cedar chips added, will outlast you and the dog.

Here is my wood shed (Front) and dog kennels (like stalls ) in the rear. Soon there will be chain link private runs for the boyz.

This is what Notch, Hawken, and Morgan have as dog houses.

We use cedar shavings inside as well.

I am building dog houses - roughly based on this one from the link above:
http://www.ronhazelton.com/howto/dog...nstruction.htm

Got to pick up the foam insulation, some 3/4 inch and 1/4 inch plywood and some more two by fours tomorrow.
Pretty easy so far.

Me either!
That looks like it's going to be awesome.
Now, are you going to pain it?

Because, see, i'd probably paint it because I'm all decorative like that and I'd do something ultra cheesy and girly, if it were for Ella, and probably paint it pink.

Front

From the back

Bean tries the door

I decided there was enough room to put the half wall in.

Next step: cut the 1/4 plywood to screw over the insulation.

That's going to be one SWEET dog house by the time you're done.
And it already has been blessed by The Bean.

That's pretty awesome... like a doggie apartment. They can get completely away from the wind... I like that part. I have a custom made doghouse, that was made for my Sheaba about 10 years ago. It takes about 4 people to lift it to move it... I'm not sure what kind of wood it's made out of, but I really like yours. If I ever build another one, I'd like one like that. I like that they can get on the other side of the wall... kinda like in their own den! Great job!!! And if you wanna send me one, just let me know!

Ok guys - "big red" is finally done. She'll be going on her maiden voyage tomorrow. Bet the drip edge is the first to go, next will probably be the shingles. Ungrateful wenches I have for dogs!

Tar paper and drip edge

Close up of the door way - had a friend at work take a piece of stainless steel angle iron and drill a couple of holes in it. Hopefully this will prevent the corner being broken down from the chain going in and out.

Roof complete with shingles

I'll take pictures of the finished inside when we take the roof off to move it tomorrow.

Sorry Quillez - I am building them in my spare time for my dogs.
Why don't you try making one yourself?
It's not that difficult, I promise.
