Default Feeding Raw?

Well I just got a 6 week old puppy and I want to use the B.A.R.F. diet. I have never used this so I am looking for any suggestions and/or recipes.

you have to research how much a puppy would get.. on kibble, a puppy needs around 3-4 cups of food a day.... for raw,you have to still feed 3 times a day, but the amount would be different.. i really suggest reading all the links in the health section sticky for Raw diets, and join the yahoo groups for raw to make sure you are giving your pup the right amount of calcium and phoshorus.

also, 6 week old puppies should stay with their mom and littermates until at least 8 weeks old.your puppy is missing out on proper doggy manners, bite inhibition, and socialization with its siblings that is much needed..

The mother died and she has been bottle fed since almost birth. Also, two of the siblings are going to my sister so they will be together until the end of the month when she gets back.

premade is easier then chopping up chickens and turkeys .. you can get premade with bone,or without... you want to make sure your pup gets the right amount of calcium to grow properly, and you have to do variety, you cant just do chicken. with premade, you can feed chicken, turkey, beef, venison, kangaroo, elk, bison, fish, venison, duck, quail, goat, lamb.. your pup has to get all varieties, plus organ meat as well.. most premades have a strictly organ meat tube of hearts, liver, kidneys to feed too.... you start out with chicken, and after the dogs system gets used to it, then you can slowly add other meats to it.. you also need to add Salmon oil as well, and make sure the pup is getting the proper vitamins as well..

If you are going to go the pre-made route for now I would stick with one protien source for a couple of weeks until your adjust to the new food. Also chicken is a good protien to start with it is very easy to digest.
The amount of food is approx. 2-3% of adult weight or up to 10% of your puppies current weight. If you double your dogs weight at 4-5 months you can get a close estimate to the dogs adult weight. Most raw feeders make adjustments in the amount of food fed according to the physical appearence of the dog.
Good luck, and check out all the links and yahoo groups they have a wealth of information.
Here is a link to a free E- version of Dr. Toms Lonsdale's Work Wonders that I noticed wasn't in the link section.
