Default Would you risk your dog's life for a stranger?

I know this is far fetched but the object of the question is to see what holds more importance to you between your dog's life and the life of a stranger.

Let's say that you are at the zoo and your dog is with you. A lion has escaped. The lion has a man (whom you dont know) pinned up against a wall and is about to attack. You are the closest person around to help. Your dog is tugging at the leash wanting you to let him go attack the lion.

You figure if you let your dog go, he can provide a distraction for the man to escape to the inside of a near by building. The problem is that your dog would be in danger from the lion.

Would you let the man take his chances or would you let your dog go?

You come up with some of the zaniest scenarios =)
I wouldn't let my dog go. Having been in the presence of lions, I can tell you it's most likely the dog wouldn't be a big enough distraction for a cat that size to let go of his prey. If it did, it would be long enough to quickly dispatch the dog, and kill the guy anyway. So we'd still have a dead human, now we have a dead dog, and the "pit bull" would probably be blamed for the attack in the media =P
I would be yelling and screaming for someone to show up with a rifle (zoos keep them on hand for just such an occasion)

Honestly, I don't think I could sacrifice my dog for a stranger. If it was a child it would be different but I feel more responsibility for my dog then I do some randem man. My dogs have never hurt anyone but I would have no clue who or what this man is. For all I know he could be a Michael Vick wanna be or a rapist or something.

I have to say, I don't think I would turn my dog loose either....I would like to say I have more compassion for humans than animals but the fact is I don't. Homeboy would be on his own.

Now if it were a child....both me and my dog would probably be there.....

Yes I agree with chia.. For a child yes, for someone with enough intelligence to stay out the lion's cage... Forget it. With our luck, my dog will distract the lion long enough for "HOMEBOY", to get away, while the APBT gets shot for "ATTACKING", the lion, and "HOMEBOY", is long gone while I face charges for harrassing the animal.
Actual case scenario, I would get my dog and "HAUL A$$", before anyone even thinks about us.
