Default Another reptile?

Well so I of course said no to the Iguana, and good thing I did. Today I got a phone call from a friend who found a "turtle" in her front yard. She was frantic and didnt know what to do, so I went and picked it up.

It is a Russian Tortoise or Agrionemys horsfieldii and not a"turtle" as she keeps insisting on calling it. lol

This little bugger is a female and not a full adult, but very friendly and ok with being handled. Im sure someone is missing her..... posters will be put up and if an owner doesnt come forward then she will go up for adoption in 30 days.

You can read more about Russians here http://www.russiantortoise.org/
I still dont know what to name her though, suggestions?

I have always wanted a Russian Tortoise but have never have had the room. Maybe I will have room once I am in the new house. She looks like Lola to me.

Hopefully the owner will contact you.

We had a Russian Tortoise for a long time. He just died in June. (2 days before B's birthday). They are pretty cool. His name was Sammy.

I have to wonder...how exactly does one lose a tortoise? I guess stranger things have happened =) Glad she found you!

Alot of people keep them loose in the yard and tortoises are very good diggers so I assume that's how most of them find their way out.

I've known several people who keep sulcata and red footed torts outside, but russians are so small by comparison. I hope someone comes forward to claim the little girl.
